Finally I get to agree with someone from Alabama. alphaandomega nails it:
The solution is to:
1. Put the mentally ill in an environment not a prison but a place where they can be watched and we can make sure the medications they are prescribed are taken.
2. Mandatory 25 years without parole for a second felony where a firearm is used.
Number one would fix the crazy problem, number two would fix the rampant crime in many urban areas such as Chicago.

I don't know if anyone told you, but it's not your average everyday street thug doing these things

Everyday thugs do kill but it's the mass killings at colleges, schools, and workplaces that are mainly committed by mentally ill hearing voices.
I think we need a national database available to law enforcement which lists anyone on psychiatric drugs or under treatment. Screw HIPPA or whatever it's called.
We protect someone's feelings over someone's life.

Brilliant. Expect 75% of the population to be either in the looney bin or prison.

These kinds of things come hand in hand with firearms unfortunately. Get the media to chill out and we have less of a problem. The one thing I would like to see done is having to pass some type of safety course before you can purchase a firearm.

We have a human condition problem not a gun control problem.
Agreed! And it will only get worse with overpopulation. Too many people crammed together.
As a society, we have made tremendous technological advances. But because most mental health laws were repealed in the 60's and 70's, we have regressed in our social welfare.
Everyone should read "Future Shock" by Alvin Toffler.

Future Shock is a book written by the futurist Alvin Toffler in 1970. In the book, Toffler defines the term "future shock" as a certain psychological state of individuals and entire societies. His shortest definition for the term is a personal perception of "too much change in too short a period of time".

Because cars are essential for our country to function
Does this make an automobile death acceptable and less painful than a gun death?
I always considered a death a tragedy, not matter the cause.
Drunk drivers, drugged drivers, texting drivers and sleepy drivers are using a car as a weapon instead of using a gun. Whenever someone asks me to teach them how to drive, the first thing I tell them is that a car is a 2-ton killing machine! Not one of those people had ever looked at it that way before.
I agree with your other comments. Especially the one about airhead women, in my case an ex-wife!
Edit:
She tried to kill me towards the end but it was with her car. She claimed her foot slipped off the brake. At least I saw the car coming. I never would have seen a gun!

are you old enuf to remember, that gory murders and crazy crap was relegated to the police rags, detective magazine etc
there's only one reason for this to be drummed, day in and day out....they want us so sick of it, we'll fall for the one world option....then we'll be toast.
just imagine for a second, no guns, poof.....now what do you got?! you still got all those angry crazy people and now you can't even defend yourself.
chew on that a while, or not, suit yourself.

Massively increase taxes on guns and ammo to the point where they.
Make it a felony offense to have possession of any gun that isn't licensed to you.
Ticket for any gun carried off your property with out license available. Just like drivers license you get it suspended or lose it for good with enough tickets.
If you lose any gun that is licensed to you, lose your license for good.
Felony offense and lose your license if your gun if found in possession of a minor.
If a gun leaves your property it is a felony
License must be renewed every year for a fee.
Registration on each gun as well for a fee.
Mental health check required every year for renewal.
All in all end guns as some sort of hobby.
Let freedom ring!
