Just got home from the Kenny Chesney concert at Soldier Field. Reminded once again of the talent in this city. Chi-town women >.

The midwest in general is superior to anywhere here in the South but frick those winters. I will put up with a lot in order to avoid a midwest winter.

Chicago is nowhere close to my favorite city in the midwest, btw. That entire swath in the south side is easy to ignore for many chicagoans, but knowing it is there would make me real uneasy.

The winters aren't even that bad. I know y'all don't experience that weather much or ever, but it's really not bad. Dress appropriately and no issues.

I agree, but it's not that the winters are bad, just long. Come April I get really sick of the odd 30-40 degree day.

Otherwise... Love this city!

It's only the wind the pisses me off , but i'd rather deal with lots of snow than ice storms like I deal with in N. Texas

I was there for AERA last month and think it is a great city, I went to a Cubs game and Blackhawks game and loved the restaurants, architecture and the people! One season ticket holder we met on the train out to Wrigley gave us one of his tickets! Loved Oak Park and the City itself reminded me of Toronto (compliment) it was clean and safe (we stayed at the Sheraton on the 32nd floor overlooking the river and bridges...

Chicago is extremely clean in areas (obviously Downtown, Grant Park, Printers Row, River North, Northside, etc.) The further South you venture, the more dangerous and not as well kept.

You're visiting in the right time. We are just so thankful for these months and are happy to be outside. Whether its at the patio/rooftop bars, walking along the Chicago river, or hanging out by the lake...it is one of the best cities for 8 months out of the year.

I came with low expectations as well, and was anticipating the city to be aesthetically similar to New York; dirty, crowded, fast paced. It's completely the opposite, which was a pleasant surprise.

I like New York a lot....it really is special, but Chicago kicks NY's arse. Chicago is truly the "Great American City".

Coming from Detroit, the winters don't affect me. Insanely hot summers? It's 67 degrees outside. I live in Old Town therefore the murders don't affect me or my family. I do wish McCarthy and the Chicago Police Department could implement some program or task force that can impede these murders and crime. I mean, their budget is right around 1.3 billion. Probably easier said than done though.

Went to Chicago a couple of years ago in October with a pessimistic attitude of the city. I left loving it. I really was taken with all clean it was.

I was thinking of going next month to check out Taste of Chicago. Has anyone been to that?

I was standing on the sidewalk with a map (I know) when a girl walked up to me and asked if I needed directions. She also told me some good places to go see while I was there. Very nice people everywhere.
