Mine is pretty bad. I don't change it for anyone in any situation.

My cousins from Baton Rouge would poke fun of mine and my sibling's accents growing up. They grew up in BR and we grew up in Iberville. Funny how big a difference a few miles can make.

Yeah I try explaining that to people not from LA....how accents are much more region based in LA.

I will say that my accent does become a lil more southern sounding when I've been drinking a lot or when I go to LA to visit. My husband immediately comments on it when I have talked to him on the phone during my visits back to LA.

Tell me about it. My wife's family is from around Opelousas. It gets hard to understand them on the phone sometimes.

True. Back to my wife, she hardly has an accent if any, but when she gets around her people or gets a little tipsy it starts coming out.

Not southern at all. Most people tell me I don't sound like I've lived in Louisiana my whole life

I feel like I don't have an accent. Then my friends from Monroe who are country as hell remind me.

Eta. My accent sounds like I'm from New Orleans. Which I am, but I've been spending a lot of time on the bayou now. I'm contracting cajun speak.

Depends. Sometimes it's natural and strong. Sometimes I have no accent even from outsiders. And sometimes intentionally added

My speaking voice sounds like Britney Spears' speaking voice. So, I guess there is an accent, but it's not that noticeable unless I leave the south.

I'm a 1 out of 10. Well, probably 2, based on words I say, but you would not guess Louisiana from my accent.

you should do this.

3/10. I can speak for a while without most people picking up on it, but they eventually pick up on the subtleties of it.

That's pretty funny.

A girl we knew growing up went to Australia about Freshman year of college for 2 weeks. Came back with a full blown Aussie accent for about a month. We shamed her even to this day well over 30 years.

I have no discernible accent.

A friend of mine was told "you sound like the water boy" this weekend

I don't like to give too much away on here, but I'll make an exception.

Traditional southern accent, 7/10, never try to hide it.

I don't think it's heavy. I think on certain words it shows it self. Things like hill or y'all.

I'm from MS.

I'm from Carthage, Mississippi. I was educated in Madden, Miss., Decatur, Miss., Starkville, Miss., and Baton Rouge, La. How damn Southern do y'all think I sound...?
