Um.
Not a single job on that chart doesn't have an IQ overlap with doctors, not even janitors.
So how is that chart evidence that doctors are smarter than 99.5% of the population. In any sense.

to get into medical school, you have to be pretty smart
to graduate from medical school and get a neurosurgical residency, you have to be elite compared to your medical school peers
so being smart compared to medical school grads means you're pretty fricking smart
Yeah
But to believe NASA lied about water on Mars because of some conspiracist agenda, thinking the earth is any less than billions of years old and that all the animals on earth rode an ark at one period of time is pretty fricking dumb
Just goes to show you that a person can be brilliant in their field and still lack common sense

Your post is silly.
What's silly is how you let your political biases influence how you view people.
Do you shite on your doctor's intelligence when you see them for a medical problem? If it's so easy a caveman can do it, why can't you answer one of the questions I posed?
Douche.

Obviously, a number of not very smart people in this thread have incorrectly equated "not very smart" with "stupid".
Are brain surgeons more intelligent on average than the general population? Quite probably. That also can be said about a number of other professions.
But can a person of not-so-extraordinary intelligence be a brain surgeon? As I posted, neurosurgeons, themselves, say yes.
God your posts are so ridiculous. Intelligence quotients for most doctors are >120. Does this mean they couldn't be lawyers or professors or researchers or some other profession? Of course not. But can someone with an IQ of < 100 make it through the rigors of medical school / residency / board certification? The cards are certainly stacked against them.

Ben Carson is much smarter than you, Rex. And that's okay.
Ben Carson is a lot more successful in life than you, Rex, and that's okay as well.
And someday when you're dead and gone and everyone had forgotten that you existed, people will still recognize the different achievements that Ben Carson accomplished in his life; While no one will recognize your message board crusade to prove that he's not intelligent. And that's okay.

What was your question? You're inconsequential so easy to miss.

Ben Carson is so smart he believes in intelligent design.

I guess it depends on how you define/measure intelligence. But I'd say this guy is pretty damn smart.
