You feel "trolled" because I present some opinions? Are YOU a brain surgeon?

Just because you excel at mathematics doesn't mean you could be a neurosurgeon either. Each person has their own set of gifts or areas where we excel.

Well, neurosurgeons themselves disagree.

No, they are making themselves sound like the king of the doctor jungle, by insulting "lesser" surgeons.

Arrogant assholes, most surgeons are

you presented opinions and removed all context from the opinions. your argument only works if you rely on complete ignorance

even your own quote has the standard "well they're not geniuses" which is telling of the context of those statements generally

I've taken Chemistry. I have no reason to believe that a specialized branch of chemistry would require exceptional intelligence.

Rex, why geaux there?

You have to be very smart to get into medical school. Neurosurgery is one of the most competitive fields amongst that group of very smart applicants.

. . . and btw, to be invited to the clinical faculty of the Johns Hopkins Neurosurgical Dept, you have to be among the best of all Neurosurgeons.

So the answer is "very smart"

What context is that? I presented opinions by fellow neurosurgeons.

So, you're saying that neurosurgeons, themselves, are completely ignorant of their own qualifications?

I took the point of that not to be that you don't have to be smart. I think the point is to emphasize that you have to have the temperament of being able to comfortably cut into people. You can have all the brains in the world, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can be a surgeon. I couldn't do it. My hands would be too shaky, and I would be too scared of hurting someone to perform surgery. I'd make a huge mess of it.

In that first link scroll down and read Jimmy Yang's story about "Kevin." It's long, but worth the read.

I've never really read his posts, but what does Rex do for a living? What does he have a degree in?
