re: How much were new kitchen countertops in your house?

I planned our countertops and sent the design drawings to this soapstone company. They cut and shipped it to my door and we dropped it in. It was about half of what anyone local charged. It may be an option if you have a few friends to help install (1 1/2 inches thick,650 lbs).

We are going to use Carrera marble in our new home. It's the same price and most granite. It looks better in natural light.

Yes, it can get a patina and stain if you aren't careful. They have been serving coffee on marble at the Coffee Call for decades. We don't mind the imperfect look. We will have dirtytop heart pine floors, and brick and beam through the house.

Caesarstone is my favorite for a clean look. It's also anti microbial. Plan for about $50-60+ sf

Solid wood look beautiful.

I can see a woman tiring of this quickly.

WD 40 will keep it shiny and spotless.

even the lighter green shades will darken over time

if you get a lot of light veining, that will not darken, but overall the stones are always dark

(you can speed up the process and make it more uniform with a little mineral oil if you want)

Quartz, right at $4K.

I guess its all personal taste, but the way my cutting board looks, theres no way id want my counter tops to look like that

Shitty pic, but it's all the frick over. That fireplace opens to both sides and the other is the dining room. The whole living room, dinign room, and kitchen are some sort of bamboo green. I liked it at first, and it looks great in natural light, but I wanted to change it recently and she shot it down because she likes her green kitchen. Ugh.



Green walls, blue couch, tube TV...all sorts of wrong going on here.

We did white carrera polished... nothine else like it. Nothing. People still gawk at it when they enter. No stains (polished doesn't stain) but will etch. We have a couple etch spots but you can only see then from certain angles under certain light. Antique random width oak floors and carrara backsplash.
