I'm from Central and I agree. I wish that we would have stayed there if we were going to be in the BR area.

That's nonsense. I live in that area and follow the real estate trends here (on trulia and realtor.com.) Houses that size and smaller regularly sell for over 200K, sometimes close to 300K.
Also, where I am is very close to where your mother lives, and I can tell you it is quiet and I haven't even heard of any crime here since I have lived here.

The street Sherwood Forest itself through that neighborhood is pretty ghetto because no one decent wants to live right on the major through way. When you get into Goodwood and Sherwood Forest it's pretty decent. There's a lot of Vietnamese and other Asians who live in that area who keep their property nice. Also a lot of old white folks still hanging on.

This is simply not true. For there to be 1000 students or more at STM from K-8, there would have to be at least 111 students in each grade. In its heyday, back when my kids went there, there were four sections of 30 each. When my youngest left STM five years ago, they were already starting to cut back to just three sections per grade or four sections with 20 or students each per grade.

I think it is still an excellent academic school, however. Just smaller classes, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing from an academic standpoint. In fact, they just won the blue ribbon of excellence or whatever it is called last year.

It's sad to say, but blacks are like an infection. The slowly spread to an area until they totally take it over and it slowly dies and become absolute trash.

This is why the Commies bankrolled the Civil Rights movement and what Khrushchev meant when he said they'd eventually take us without firing a shot.

Central has a strong community pride that I don't think people give them enough credit for. Say what you want about Central, but the people from there are proud to be and are usually hard working, blue collar folks who give a shite about their schools and their community. Pretty much the complete opposite of ghetto blacks.

It's not like ghetto blacks just show up one day in a gypsy caravan. It starts with a neighborhood having low house prices and some other desirable traits (good schools, desirable location, etc). That attracts lower-middle class families. Which causes prices to drop more until you get section 8 rentals and the neighborhood is done.

Central is absolutely packed with cheap housing. The schools are way better than EBRPSS. So it is definitely coming.

There are 300k+ neighborhoods being built all over Central. I can see some of the older neighborhoods declining but the area as a whole will be fine. It's pretty similar to Zachary and there are slummy areas there too.

I had it appraised. Now, it hasn't been updated in 25 years but that's what it's worth.

If only that were the case. We could put out spike strips on Hooper and Greenwell Springs and we'd be fine.

I don't know where you got that less than 600 kids from but it is wrong... my son goes there. There are around 1000 students or more

Someone here said 580 in the last couple days. My best friends kids go there (one at St Joe's now) and I thought it didn't sound right but took it for face value.

I think some of the culcha has already crept down Hooper into Tanglewood and Carmel Acres. I definitely see the decline there. I don't see neighborhoods like Comite Hills or Morgan Place turning ghetto. Almost every town in LA has the "other side of the tracks" type neighborhoods. Central as a whole will be fine.

I rode through there about 2 weeks ago and definitely saw the decline. The flood didn't help their cause at all.

I think so too. I just don't see areas like Geo Je's, Morgan Place, Bellingrath Lakes, Wisteria, and those you mentioned going the way of Monticello. God, at least I hope not.
