Also, I'm a single 23 year old and would like somewhere with decent nightlife. So far I'm extremely interested in The Woodlands/Spring, Katy, Sugar Land and Pearland
Bruh, you're gonna hate that. Those are places where people buy homes once they have their second kid and DONT want the nightlife any longer.
Midtown: younger crowd. Stay west of Main St and above Elgin. Have your head on a swivel if you're a few blocks from Main (homeless and thugs galore). Best portion of midtown you might like is Gray St/Bagby. Less thugs/homeless
Montrose: ages 24+ Mostly gay people, but cool area. South of westheimer is more of the hipsters, the gays stay on the north side mostly
Heights: my favorite. Ages 22-45 mostly. Great bars and restaurants. Very walkable still. Easy access to I-10 or 45. Try and stay around White Oak Blvd
Rice Military: not to be confused with Rice village. might be too far for you. Ages 18-35ish mostly. Good all around stuff
EaDo: still gentrifying, but pretty cool. Might be best for your commute. Restaurants/bars aplenty.
Downtown: self explanatory

You're gonna move to Texas because you can't find a job here?
I already said I’m a plant operator for a major oil, gas and chemical producer. I make 6 figures, and my current company has multiple facilities in and around Houston. One being in Pasadena/Deer Park area, one in the woodlands and one in Baytown.
The woodlands location is corporate hq so no equipment to operate there unless I get a pipeline controller job.

Thanks guys. So far there seems to be some solid advice in here. After doing some research Upper Kirby and Midtown look very nice.
I feel like I’d sacrifice being a 10 or 20 minute uber ride to the nightlife to live in a nicer area. That’s basically what I’m doing now in Nola.
I can afford up to $1500 a month but would like to be paying $1000 or so a month for a nice 1br apartment in a nice area.

Go to Clear Lake or League City and get a boat.
Stay away from my side of town.

That won't go too far in upper Kirby. Check out memorial heights area. Studemont and memorial drive area. Both north and south sides of the bayou are nice.

You looking to move to Shell Deer Park?

The nicer areas are in the loop. Midtown, heights, or downtown

What is the commute from Fall Creek area to Baytown and Pasadena?
Edit: More family oriented. Not great for 23 year old single guy.

Use a real estate agent for one and 1500 will get you a decent enough 1 bed room as long as you are willing to live in a complex like Camden
Just stay on har.com and you’ll find something

He could score a studio on W Gray for that. But he would be shitting 5 ft from his kitchen.

W gray isn’t upper Kirby
I just did this hunt for the past month $1500 for a single dude is a good budget. Obviously he won’t be living large but you can make that work.
It will be at or lower than 800 square feet

I think the large apartment complexes like Hannover, Amli, Camden, the Standard, and Archstone all would have 1 bedrooms for 1500. Probably not less than 1400 though.

I just lived in a Camden for 1295 and it hapen cable included. I hated the place but the price wasn’t bad

Have you controlled pipeline before? I’m hiring.
Posted on 3/3/18 at 10:03 pm to SouthTiger504
You want to work the midstream side of things but want to stay with a large operator? Your choices are Kinder, Enterprise or TransCanada. And with CRM...you’re not gonna make those 6 figures you’re used to in the plants in an entry level controller gig...not at Shell, CVX, or XOM anyway...companies that don’t put much effort in the midstream side.

I live in eado. Lofts at the ballpark. $1200 a month. It’s not bad but I don’t like it. My apartment is 784 sq feet so it’s pretty good. I’m moving to the heights. You can have my apartment lol

Yikes, that's what I pay and I thought I was spending too much on the 3 bedroom two bathroom 2 car garage house I'm renting.

No experience with pipeline but currently a DCS/Board Operator.
I didn’t realize that the majors paid lower. I’m currently working for 1 of the three you mentioned.
