For the pain to finally end?

If we are honest, I think that many of us have had those thoughts, if even for a split second

Far be it from be to tell someone how to live, or die in this circumstance.

Before you make that choice, you better realize the ramifications of that choice. Our lives are not our own. We live in a network of friends and family and loved ones that are all impacted (sometimes irreversibly) by the choices that we make.

Ted, the choice is yours. Be mindful of what that choice fully entails.

Best of luck to you.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I give the same advice whenever one of these threads pops up: Never consider a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Everyone has problems man. Whatever is ailing you will pass.

Don't let the assholes on here get to you. Plenty of us are around if you just want to shoot the shite with someone. Things will start looking up, my man. Count on it.

this could help, sometimes we need to just get away. Like others have said, maybe look into a retreat with people in similar circumstances. You never know who you will meet.

Stop being Emo, seriously. There are families out there this weekend remembering their sons or daughters who would give anything for just one more hug, kiss, or conversation.

Whatever it is, it's not as bad as you think, and it will get better.

This is such a bullshite response. You do not get to dictate how someone is allowed to feel. This is the token response of someone who's never dealt with mental illness. "you have it so good, why aren't you just happy with what you have?"

The old-timers in my family always reminded us to keep busy after a tragedy--preferably doing physical work. I never will forget in the sixties my grandmother going back to the fields after my uncle drowned at a young age. She hoed cotton all that summer instead of working in the house I think--would work and sleep and do it again the next day. I think the monotonous work kept her going and every evening she was so physically tired she slept as well as could be expected.

I know that there have been times when I have been depressed that physical work did provide relief. I once split firewood in the middle of July until I could hardly lift the axe just to clear my mind. Too old for that now. Maybe I could chip and paint somebody's house or saw some wood or push a lawnmower or something now if I needed to.

I have heard people found new purpose by working steadily at charity facilities like the Salvation Army and such.

Anyway prayers for you and all who suffer.
