d think if no one alive had experienced this, it's most likely more of an excuse than a real issue.

I'd say the election of a black president should mean something.

I agree with the abortion point, but I suspect some of the same people who typically bemoan AA violence rates are also pro-life. It's a contributing factor, but by how much, considering the decline continues long after the effects of RvW came of age?

Do you have a link regarding your mass incarceration claim? Seems like that would be more disruptive to AA families and could potentially lead to more negative consequences.

The article is a joke.

The overwhelming majority of deadbeat dads are sons of dead beat dads, and of course this can be traced all the way back to slavery. Whatever progress has been made since slavery was likely stunted by the "War On Drugs" which put droves upon droves of black fathers in jail.

Its a vicious cycle that will take many more generations to remedy.

That is exactly why the crime rate continues to fall.

Saying that we lock people up for "stupid shite" is not understanding what has happened to the crime rate in every meaningful category.
I cannot fathom people that ignore this.

I cannot be sympathetic to people that choose to make their life's work crime. The next post will be about how much it costs to "lock them up for life".

That cost is only exceeded by what costs turn their thug asses loose.

The country was founded on genocide. Splain that.

Mass incarceration is extremely disruptive to families and I hate it. It does lead to negative consequences. But I also recognize that locking up high numbers of young black males will have to decrease the violent crime rate of young black males in the same way abortion does.

if we are ever to focus on children who, for no fault of their own, are often raised in environments where a stable father is missing, violence is predictable, education is eschewed, drugs are prevalent and dependency threatens freedom; we must stand up and speak facts before another generation of children are lost.

I don't have time to read that article right now, but this statement alone just makes me think "Yeah, we SHOULD stop paying for ignorant arse people on welfare to sit around and have kids while not working. Leeches."

I really don't care about your comment.

I think Roger is a bright guy, but I disagree with his logic about this issue. I don't care what color criminals are, just lock them up.

Locked up criminals don't commit crime against the general populace. This is fact.

Did you know that money making businesses, in majority, run and operate jails now in the us?

How wild of an assumption is it to think these businesses lobby and want full jails to maximize profit?

Yep, it's a vicious cycle.

So we just send the senior criminals loose and tell them to go home and be good daddies? They've already rejected all sense of manhood and responsibility by being 3x losers, but I guess they'll change.

I'll hang up and listen...

You should be more skeptical of power hungry DA's and profit driven companies IMO.

I absolutely agree they lobby, just like every other business does. You can't take a piss in the Hart or Rayburn building w/o a lobbyist standing next to you. Everybody knows this.

The crime rate is down. Criminals are locked up. Fact.

If you can't admit and accept that black people have been and continue to be targeted by law enforcement then your opinions are irrelevant

L.O.L.

You would have to know me to know how funny that is IRL.
All of them are in it for the money-duh.

Including Saint Bobby.

I'm plenty skeptical, but I can read stats.

The crime rate is out of control.
People are sick of crime.
We demanded judges issue longer sentences to career criminals.
Career criminals are locked for longer terms.
The crime rate falls.

What exactly is "broken"?
