So there are zero problems in the black community? What if MSNBC had published this?

I was just kidding.

As a black person born in the US after 69, you wouldn't last a day in Africa.

As far as violent crime numbers, jobless rates, and the number of children being born to single moms it absolutely is.

Here, Lucky. Would a left wing moonbat source suffice?

Moynihan, in his report’s conclusion declared, “at the heart of the deterioration of the fabric of Negro society is the deterioration of the Negro family. It is the fundamental source of the weakness of the Negro community at the present time.”
Not much has changed, according to the new report’s findings.
“An analysis of national data indicates that little progress has been made on the key issues Moynihan identified,” wrote Gregory Acs, of the Urban Institute, in a statement released with the report. “Further, many of the issues he identified for Black families are now prevalent among other families.”
Three major factors were at the heart of the Moynihan report: the number of Black children who lived in homes without a father, the number of unmarried women giving birth and the number of Black women married and living with their spouse.
In 1950, 17 percent of Black children lived in a home with their mother but not their father. By 2010 that had increased to 50 percent. In 1965, eight percent of childbirths in the Black community occurred among unmarried women. In 2010 that figure was 41 percent. The number of Black women married and living with their spouse was recorded as 53 percent in 1950. By 2010, it had dropped to 25 percent.

Moynihan was one of you.

Not saying that there aren't any problems in the black community there are many and quite a few have been stated here, but from what I have been reading in this thread any black child born after 1969 in a urban area is useless or jail bound.

But has anyone looked at the source of this article? Typical conservative wingnut website masquerading as "hard news".

I didn't really pay attention to the source. I was more focused on the stats and percentages. Seemed like the author was trying to figure out what the hell is going on and used stats and numbers to add to the story. Didn't seem like a hate or agenda piece either.

I love how people always lump these two together, when in reality the progressives have done way more harm to the well being of poor people and minorities over the years. Everybody caught in the poverty trap should be allowed to piss on LBJ's grave on their birthday.

Nope. Not at all I actually find it quite interesting to see what you guys have to say and think about the black community, but for me to think some of the comments aren't misguided, stereotypical, or the dreaded R word that gets used to much these days would be dishonest of me.

mandatory birth control while on government assistance. You should be unable to add to the problem while the taxpayer supports you. I have been crucified for this opinion every time I share it but I think its the only way to fix the poverty trap.

Fortunately the "black community" isn't homogeneous. There are lots of black folks who understand there's a problem.

Ending the War on Drugs would be a great start. Moving people into productive lives and replacing our shitty welfare system would be another.

In the current system, people are penalized for trying to better themselves.

I agree with everything you said and I am one of those who understands there is a problem you don't have to look any further than Chief Keef. Where people tend to disagree is on the solutions to those problems.

The problems aren't insurmountable. I think they are systematic and can be changed though.

Slavery and then Segregation went on for 200 years but I suppose a wrong that lasted that long should be overcome in 30-40 years. Things take time and if you think its getting worse and not better then you really have no idea whats going on in the real world.

That's bullshite , a good bit of black children have a huge disadvantage , when you grow up around the shite they do , poverty , drugs , crime and below par school systems how can anyone expect them to succeed .....

I wonder if I grew up in that environment would I be strong enough to see through the crap and be able to stay on a straight path to better myself , idk it's asking a lot from these kids that see life a certain way .....
And to the ones that make the right decisions and go on to better themselves congrats , you are a very strong and special person .....

now there are a lot of AA families that are great members of society , don't get me wrong .....

Thomas Sowell likes to point out that in 1950 more black children in America grew up in stable, two parent homes than white children did.

With the advent of modern welfare that number changed drastically with the federal and state governments taking over the father's role as provider.
