Ever hear of this?

Vaguely. Just looked it up. Guess newer research shows it's more beneficial to wait at least 2 minutes to cut cord.

While looking up more info I read about a small percentage of moms who do a "lotus birth". They LEAVE THE BABY ATTACHED to the placenta and let it detach in it's own time(one woman left the baby attached for 6 DAYS and kept the freaking placenta in a bag sprinkled with herbs and flowers)

I did it for the first one. After that, I didn't really care.

Yep, i cut it. Like others have said, im a huge pussy when it comes to blood. Probably the main reason i don't hunt. However, that day it didn't bother me at all. I cut the cord, even took at the hole in my wife's stomach from the c-section and want affected. The only time i felt bad was when my wife finally gave in and had to get an epidural. I think it was harder for me than it was her. I don't do needles at all.

Can you imagine the face of relatives when they are about to hold the baby....and then given the placenta bag to hold as well

My mom was (is) big into natural childbirth, and even she would be properly horrified

That's nasty

No, once his head popped out, I pull him out and the Doc cut and tied.

Wife said they have to test it to make sure it was healthy or not. Guess that would indicate problems with the baby.
They are checking to make sure it all came out. If not, it is really bad for mom.

Cut all 3 of my kids. Looking back now it was pretty cool. Kinda funny it is hard to remember the whole moment but the actual cutting I remember. Almost passed out on my last kid nurse told me go sit down.

Couldn't do it with my son because he came out with the cord wrapped around his neck and they rushed him off to the NICU. I was able to cut the cord on my daughter though. It wasn't bad, and I watched my wife give birth to both kids through vaginal delivery. Very interesting to say the least.

My oldest was born with breathing problems and the birth was chaotic. Aside from doctor and nurse, they had a second doctor and four nurses at the ready. The OB/GYN is yelling at me to cut the chord, and I could not figure out why, in the chaos. Think he was trying to distract me. Anyway, I cut it, thinking I did some crucial act to help them, and they ran off with the baby to the ICU, and eventually a helicopter.

Two years later, when my second was born, it was a doctor and nurse, and that's it. Calm as could be. I had assumed that the whole process was more chaotic and my role was integral, but it was not.

My son is fine- it was a collapsed lung. Three days in NICU and today he is 15, taller than me, and smarter too, according to him.

Of course time passed and I got over it and eventually dove right back in
