I did it with all four of my kids.

It's a privilege. Lots of dads don't get the chance to do it.

Dads, did you do it when your baby was born or did the doctor handle it?

Nope. Both my kids were born via c-section. No way in hell was I about to peek on the other side of the sheet and see my wife's innards laid out like that.

You mean you've never gutted a rival biker gang member before?

MC's really are a joke now.

I didn't even know you had that option if the birth were a c-section. I'd still do it.

I'll tell you this, I was more traumatized by watching my wife get an epidural than ANYTHING I saw after my kids were born

I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you. Snitches are a dying breed, ya know.

I don't remember being given the option now that I think about it. I'd still have declined if asked though.

Hovering over my defenseless, comatose wife and the pulpy stew of gore and guts that gushed from her nether region, shears in my hand … is one of the fondest memories I have of our marriage.

Thank you. And the shame of it is my wife never appreciated the more gentle, tender aspect of my nature that I can so freely share in this forum.

that's terrible. Guess I'm gonna have to man up and do it if the dr allows it and all is going well. This will be my first bundle of joy. Why are people saying that watching the epidural is the worst part?

hmmmm I have zero fear of needles but I'm assuming she will be screaming in pain from it. Maybe I'll watch a youtube video...

They messed up the epidural on my wife when our first child was born. They went in a bit too far and actually pierced the lining on her spinal cord. Nobody knew anything was wrong while she was in the hospital because she was laying in bed. But once we went home and she sat up for a while, she starting getting a horrible headache to the point she was in tears. Turns out that when she sat up, it allowed spinal fluid to start leaking or whatever. I had to take her back to the hospital where they did a procedure I think they called a "blood block". basically they drew blood from her arm and then injected it in the spot where her epidural had been done. Scared the hell out of me to see her hurting like that.
