While this is a great lifestyle, you really should see someone annually. It's cheap, and picks up on things that are beyond able to be controlled by a healthy lifestyle. Simply feeling great and making healthy choices doesn't prevent quite a lot of disease processes. It's quite possible that you don't need to be placed on medications, and any good primary care physician would be happy to let you continue on the way you are. But basic monitoring is a pretty fantastic thing. Most parts of your body have enough redundancy to run on as little as ~10% functionality without you noticing a problem. By the time you've run it down that far, it's irrecoverable. Good monitoring under a skilled physician picks up and prevents those problems.

This thread reminds me that I need to find a new primary care physician. Insurance at work changed and my previous one not in network anymore

I've had better experiences, both personally and professionally, with docs in private practice who did internal medicine

My last pcp was internal medicine and she was awesome. I really wish I could still go to her.

Its because of all the mandated coverage, such as maternity for example, which is as expensive as shite. So you are supplementing other people through your premiums.
It isn't just about you anymore dude, haven't you heard Obama talk about SHARED responsibility?
Its a form of income distribution, pretty simple.
Your choices suck and I bet your deductible is about 3000 dollars as well. Which is better than 7 or 8 thousand which I know exist.

For the wife and me, yes. Now, a arm and a leg.

Me, I'm under Medicare(disabled) and I have a sup insurance that covers 100%. Cost for both is $500 a month. I have to carry Plan "F" due to my health.

Wife, before Obamacare, was a little over $350 a month with a 2k deductible. Now, $750 a month with a 6K deductible.

And no, we don't get any help from Obama paying for my wife's insurance.

The company i work for pays half of mine and I still pay $650/month, nit including dental. That cover My wife, child ans me. We are rarely sick. It makes me sick to think that it cost around $15k a year to insure my family. I much rather have that money put away some where in case i needed it.

Casty, since you are paying so much, at the very least you should go have yourself a wellness check. I just did my first one at 35.

Any idea what your copay is? That part is what pisses me off. I'm paying upwards of 300 every 2 weeks to cover 3 of us, but my copay is 45 and my deductible just went way the frick up.

Before the reformed healthcare act I was paying like 350 a month with a 15$ copay.

It's called, the "Affordable Health Care Act".

Yeah...bullshite.
Affordable to all the fricking entitlement fricks.

And, Casty, I wish I was only paying $600 a month.
You should count your blessings.

$600/month for a single healthy person? Explain this to me. How could you even accumulate $600/month in medical expenses?

This is a troll thread, right?

Do you not have the option for a high deductible plan? That's what I have and I use a hsa. I put in 3k a year to the HSA and my company puts in 1k. For a family plan I pay $357 a month and my deductible is 4k and max out of pocket is 4k. After having my hsa for only 3 years I already have about 10k in it. Fyi for a single person at my company for this same plan is 100% free.

Unless you're in the middle class.

For as much as politicians talk about the middle class, stuff like the ACA really really screws us over big time.

I pay $180/month for just major medical. I get 1 free doctors visit a year and my deductible is 5k I believe. Basically I have to be almost on my death bed to go to the hospital and I still lose 5k.
