re: Buddy of mine just heard back from FEMA- giving him $23,000 - LSUEEAlum
As with every FEMA thread in the last few weeks, the misinformation is rampant. For the umpteenth time, your FEMA housing assistance does not take your income into account whatsoever.
So why do they ask for your gross income on the application? I'm not saying you are wrong. You pro...

re: Buddy of mine just heard back from FEMA- giving him $23,000 - LSUEEAlum
Apparently you have to have a letter written by your agent of your home owners policy and send that in along with a copy of your homeowners policy to prove you do not have flood ins. Seems stupid to me. Like I said above they should know if you have flood ins or not. During the application process s...

re: Why do so many not have flood insurance? - LSUEEAlum
if you own a house in one of the heavy hit areas, and your home did not flood and did not ever really come in danger of flooding, does that force you to immediately get flood insurance? or does that just reaffirm that you do not need flood insurance? to me, if your home didn't flood during ...

re: I hope people start waking up and purchasing flood insurance - LSUEEAlum
I just increased my deductible last month to lower my premium. It was getting out of control. I am in a flood zone but my entire neighborhood is a couple feet about base flood so the premium wasn't terrible but when it increases 15% each year it adds up. Wish I would have just kept it as is. Oh well...

re: 401k - $100k milestone - LSUEEAlum
This board is what I read when I need a kick in the testicles. If you dont have a 100k in your retirement at 30, buy a home with 20% down at 25, and make 100k by 28 you suck at l
Probably because there are a lot of engineers on here. That's pretty much exactly how my life has gone....

re: 401k - $100k milestone - LSUEEAlum
So I guess my next question would be is if you have $100k by early 30's does that put you in the top 5%? 1%? of people in that age group? By this thread it seems that $100k is avg by age 30. and I know that can not be the case....

re: 401k - $100k milestone - LSUEEAlum
For me I started my 401k at 23 and like i said I did not contribute for an entire year and I'm 31 now. So roughly 7 to 7.5 years. Just got to the point, maybe a year ago, when I was able to start maxing out....

re: 401k - $100k milestone - LSUEEAlum
I just turned 31 and just hit that mark. Was just trying to gauge how well I am doing. I was also hoping by 30 to be at 100k but I had one year where I stopped contributing due to wedding/house/and having to work part time due to lack of work....

re: Unemployment - LSUEEAlum
should be thankful
Very thankful, lucky, blessed that I found a job so quickly. Like I said above I wasn't expecting to find a job here for the rest of the year. I had already set up my unemployment account because of that. Glad I won't need to use it just yet....
