I saw a few people go around those barricades but didn't want to do it myself. I was too afraid of getting arrested or beaten or shot to talk to the cops.

I live in River Bend, but came home at halftime. A friend of mine got forced to Farr park and walked home. The cop told them they would have to just drive around until Brightside opened back up. Who can we bitch to?

Sad thing is we had to slow down southbound traffic as we drove into their lane to get around barricade.

River road was backed up to gourier due to so many cars having to stop and talk with the cops about needing to turn left. To then be told to go straight and turnaround seems silly, but i guess they followed the "no left turn" rule they were given.

Luckily I left early enough to beat all of that nonsense.

I thought not being allowed to park along Nicholson was supposed to fix these traffic problems after the game.

Someone told me that you could not turn on Brightside from river rd. Is that true?

yes...but that is nothing new, if I remember years past correctly...

fwiw, all of the barricades and contraflow typically end one hour after game ends, so I just break out the grill and cook up another round of burgers...by the time I am done, I can go the way I want to go...

Brightside has alway been open. Not as simple as breaking out the grill when you have 2 kids and a wife.

There is a number and name to call going around. I'll try to find it. The HOA may be able to help too.

All they need to do is have one of those big temp electronic signs that says "LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY" for Brightside.

That's what the let us do after they didn't let us turn left, but made us pass up Brightside , turnaround at Farr park and come back to Brightside.

second thought, you are right...I always thought I was making progress towards the interstate by turning there, but would get turned south again on highland...

as for the wife and kids, that does complicate things quite a bit...particularly since you live so close to LSU...

Left game at 9:30pm. We sat in hayfield for 50 minutes as traffic was stopped on River Road - cops were making people turn on the road by baseball stadium. after 10, they started allowing people to go straight down, towards L'Auberge.

That biggest issue is that I do not feel like debating with a cop on trying to get home after I have had a few beverages.

What used to take 20 mins to get home took an hour and a half.

I live in Riverbend. I stayed for the duration of the game and had no problem taking a left on Brihhtside. They must have figured it out by the time I got there.
