One day, just one day, MAYBE people will realize it is simply not physically possible to move that many cars out of that small an area in a timely manner.

On second thought... Nah.

I realize this...it just appeared that the "contraflow plan" at least for those heading away from campus on Dalrymple wasn't improved, but worsened.

Or maybe they'll stay until the 4th qtr like I did and see ZERO traffic leaving..

No, I get it.

I've seen too many cops standing around, drawing OT, not doing a damn thing.

Plus, a lot of 'em have a rude, condescending attitude.

Anyone know if you can take a right on Lee Drive from Highland Road after leaving campus, to get to Riverbend?

Last year I lived at Southgate and that was a shitshow to get to and from campus on gamedays. We tried that intersection (Lee/Highland) a few times, and it depended on what time in the game we got there. We would park at the parking garage by the bookstore and got turned away there a few times. If we stayed past halftime at the tailgate, we were screwed getting home, but if we left before then, we were ok. We quickly learned to leave just before kickoff so we could make it home and watch the game.

ETA: puse01, if they wont let you turn there, continue South on Highland till you get to University Acres, take a left, get over to Boone, and loop back to Lee right by Place Du Plantier.

I haven't read the entire thread, but we went out Skip Bertman to River Rd and turned right to hit I-10W. Almost no one appeared to want to use the left lane. I got in the left lane and went all the way to downtown with no problem. My biggest issue was having to go back through the parking lot near Alex Box to get on Skip Bertman since I couldn't take Gourrier to get to River Road. I guess when everyone figures out how to properly use both lanes it will end up looking like this.

I have been to every other SEC town which is in even shittier smaller towns with less roadways to choose from and they blow us out the water with getting people out after a game. Stop making excuses for how inept BR is

I dont go anymore sugartits, because of traffic. With an 18 month old, it simply is not worth it anymore. And I was trying to help a poster with a question when I got turned away from that EXACT location last season. But thanks.

Ummm Yeah, a bunch of red neck cops in a little town in North Alabama are going to have to disagree with you. Why can Talledega clear out 150k people in a couple hrs on one road at once? LSU fans started leaving at halftime so the exodus was staggered. It's pathetic, it's not like LSU and BR traffic engineers haven't had years to tinker with the system. With all these multi lane roads leaving campus and it's getting worse not better. BCSF was the same way.

E Boyd was blocked btw Nicholson and Burbank according to some folks that were trying to get to university view condos.

Did anyone notice if mellow mushroom lot was open to Burbank traffic or walkons, staybridge etc open to McDonalds lot. ?

You young punks have no respect for the law anymore!

But seriously, the incompetence the Baton Rouge gov. is pretty shocking.

The commanders that plan everything really do work their asses off trying to predict problems and plan everything in advance. I was suprised at the amount of information and detailed master plans that send out several times a month in advance.

I see two glaring problems with this system.
1. People parking on campus don't have a map showing desired traffic flow routes with the blocked streets indicated. Thus you can drive into one barricade after another.
2. Contra flowing traffic off campus is just stupid if the routes aren't kept controlled open and flowing all the to the interstates and major traffic arteries. Right now they are forcing traffic into bottle necks that cause back flow. Thus the same old issues.

Yes, but the issues are further away from campus. This is like shipping bums to another town. Campus is clear it must be working. We will create a bottleneck somewhere else.

[quote]Does anybody really think it was going to be easy to leave campus with "100,000" people? Also when you park in a lot with 3000 other cars, you might have a wait getting ou

What we really think you can't comprehend.
I think the traffic should not have been like a nail biting ending to a LSU vs Bama game. The actual attendance was way lower than stated, The stands were emptying out fast after the first score of the second half.
Half of the cars in old Alex Box parking lot were gone when I got there only about a 5 minutes after the final horn sounded.

So for the people that think we are bitching just to bitch. The plans sucked. No way around it. What really pisses me off is the patting each others back for a job well done.

It's going to hit the fan after a close conference game. They better start lining up excuses now.
