I guess you didn't see where my current location is Chicago. The only hot months he spent in BR was April and May

Yep. Poodles are great dogs.

I agree with this. I've got a poodle cross. He'll fetch all day and there's no dog hair in my house.

Maybe their reaction is out of empathy for you raising an dog who loves cold weather in such hot climate as BR?

Maybe you do not know what you are talking about.

I saw that. But your OP states people in BR gave him terrified looks like they never seen one. My point is the reason people in the south look at you crazy and not in Chicago, is perhaps bc you had a cold weather animal in a miserably hot climate.

but while I was in BR a lot of people used to be terrified of him (probably had not seen one before)

I have a Sheltie, it is not a mini collie. It is not Lassie, it will not help Timmy get out of the well, but leave his arse down there.

Huskies are fine in warm climates. Their undercoat helps insulate them from the heat.

First thing I checked before getting mine. People ask me if I'm going to shave him and I'm like

There are even a lot of people that have double coat dogs and don't understand the concept of it.

Two pit mixes here. Every once in a while an old person will say something like "You don't let those things off the leash do you?". Or someone walking my direction will cross the street so they don't have to pass right next to us. I kind of like that one though.

People are usually cool about them though. When ever I have them in a crowd I always hear "Beautiful dogs." and "Can I pet them?". They love the attention.

Yep. And the people who made comments about huskies and the south have vanished.

Yep. I think my golden growing up had more trouble with the heat than my husky. Another misconception

I didn't go to Washington. I can not even remember when I changed them in my icon or why. I do pull for them though.

s breed
Huskies are known to be aggressive towards people.

Huskies were orginially bred by nomadic tribes in cold climates to keep their offspring occupied and for warmth at night.

The sled dog thing came later in their breeding. So Huskies being aggressive is completely wrong. At least not for a pure bred siberian husky.

Huskies need to be around people or other dogs. If not they can tear a house to pieces. I have seen this happen!!

The stats say otherwise, but okay.

Common misconceptions about your dog

I have a Husky, so when I saw your thread title I immediately thought of everything you said. I get the wolf comments almost daily, people being afraid of him, and the heat questions all the time. I always have people telling me I should shave him so he will be cooler, which is dumb since his coat works as insulation against heat as well as the cold.

I have a feist/cur female that acts scared as shite at everything.

If she sees or smells a squirrel or coon she turns into a mutant terror.
