Mississippi could solve it’s infrastructure problems by bringing the lottery to the state and legalizing marijuana but we would never do that.
And we could raise teacher pay but no one wants easy solutions to hard problems
As long as the money isn't squandered or stolen.
Oregon sure hasn't done much with their monies.

Or these people could have been buying weed illegally, therein giving Colorado no tax revenue.

People are buying marijuana, but they are doing so by switching their spending habits to mj from other products.
Every dollar spent on mj is a dollar not spent elsewhere
Or they were buying it illegally before with no tax revenue

Sad we are willing to sell out our morals for the dollar and a quick high. Broken families, welfare queens, overweight, drug heads. All that makes up this country anymore. Satan continues to do his work, God will judge this nation harshly one day. Sad how far we have fallen

You can still buy marijuana illegally in Colorado to avoid sales taxes

and probably lost $2 billion in productivity revenue
I'm for legalizing weed btw.

They need to clear out the homeless with some of that money.
Lulz. Tell us how y’all in the NW solved your homeless problem and while you’re at it tell us how you solved your heroin problem.

They we're doing that before it was legal for the most part. It's not like it was impossible to find on the black market, especially in Colorado.
The additional revenue is from getting a cut of a market that they weren't getting anything from prior to legal sales.
There's of course some substitution happening, but it's not
quote:
it just means the state lost a billion dollars in sales tax revenue in other industries which is now being spent in mj shops.
Because a big chunk of it was already being spent on marijuana before legalization

But most won't because of the convenience of going to a store on your schedule, that also has a wide variety of options.

We call this substitution effect in economics
Que? That is not what substitution effect meant in any econ class I took, it is the opposite of the income effect which both deal with pricing/demand for cheap/luxury goods.

Aren't you a little old to be underage drinking?

So where would my money be going elsewhere when I visit Denver and buy a shitload of edibles and carts before leaving?

At least we still have our conservative values. Can’t put a price on that

But I would be willing to bet you are cool with booze being legal, right?
That definitely isn't the gateway drug.

AL and MS could lead the country in production with the black belt seam. Just too retarded to take advantage.

I didn't want to get into it but his example is a terrible explanation of the substitution effect
