You mean like when Baylor paid for evidence that "proved" the economic impact of Texas A&M joining the SEC would cause a reduction of $217.2 million in gross product and 3,050 jobs on the Texas economy? Or when tobacco companies paid for evidence that "proved" smoking does absolutely no harm to the smoker? Or when US automakers went to Nixon claiming that being required to add airbags would decimate the US auto industry?

Exactly what I mean. He even went to the same source that helped the government's report.

Only a dipshit would think this was anything more than Murray's usual litigious bullshite. And even bigger idiot would think that the coal baron has the slightest chance of getting a dime.

It is probably exactly his typical shite. Hence why he will try to keep it in WV. Tie this up in a court of his choice to get some sort of petty revenge.

I don't think he is after money here. I also don't think he will win.

That the lawsuit, given the chosen setting, will probably have some merit.

Ummm, no. If he can sue for this and win, then anyone can sue any comedian and really any person who says something they don't like about them. Donald Trump under this could sue every American for making fun of his stupid hair. It would be the death of the First Amendment.

You "don't think he'll win" but the case "will probably have some merit"?

After HBO's legal team gapes Murray a new a-hole, Oliver will make it a point to talk shite about this guy in every segment from now until eternity.

I don't think you "get" what "merit" means.

It sounds like this coal baron billionaire has Martin Shkreli doing his PR. He's stepping in way more shite by filing suit

It won't get tossed on day 1.

Donald Trump sued a comedian not that long ago.

So you've basically gone from saying Oliver clearly slandered him and his business to "it won't get tossed in day 1"? Again, I'm not entirely sure what you're arguing here. Just because he files in a favorable venue and somehow doesn't have it immediately tossed on a 12(b)(6) doesn't make the actual facts and argument of his case any more meritorious than if it was dismissed before Comedy Central and Oliver even answer.

I went from saying

Unfortunately the dumbass's accusations went too far and probably crossed the line in one spit. Given the right judge I could see credit give to this.

To saying given the right venue/judge it won't get tossed.

So, the dumbass in this instance is Murray? You're not a very effective communicator. You also said some stuff about Oliver being full of shite and misrepresenting Murray's business practice and "calling for attacks" on his business. Not sure what that was all about. Oh well.

I was assuming he put up info or directed people towards Murray's company during his spiel, but was apparently wrong. Like I said, I don't watch people delivering opinion pieces.

So you act like an authority on something you have no fricking clue about and haven't seen. Keep it up.

Yeah, that guy was Bill Maher and the case was thrown out almost immediately.

I love how you've now for the 2nd time admitted you have no clue what you're talking about.

Found your problem. You came in here wanting to argue about a video you didn't even watch. But you were so fricking sure you were right and everyone else was wrong.

Go take a good look in the mirror because you are what's wrong with American politics today. On both sides of the aisle.

What have I said in an authoritative way?

I read about this about 6am and thought it was interesting. Had no clue who the guy was and then looked up some stuff. Especially on Utah mining accident. Ended up watching an 45minute long Modern Marvels on Silver Mining as a result. After doing all this I agree that the billionaire filed a lawsuit in WV for favorable treatment and probably has enough cause to warrant someone listening to the evidence.

Finally got a chance to watch it.

Only the most partisan of political hacks would have a problem with that episode.

Some of his shtick has become a bit formulaic, but the level of research and detail he brings to the subjects make him usually worth the time to watch.

Loved the 'EAT shite BOB' at the end.
