If it looks like it will become an issue, tell HR you feel like you were discriminated against because you were grouped with racists by a racists of another race.

This is my gripe with him. He gets in peoples faces after scoring touchdowns, etc.. Yet when the tables are turned, he runs away. Manziel rubs me the wrong way in the same manner when he did the money thing. It's the leader of the team acting like that.
I don't get the "racism" cry when people don't like him. There are hundreds of black athlete's in the NFL that white guys over 40 cheer for and look up to. Because this one guys personality on the field makes people not like him, they are racist???
Now people dropping N-bombs at superbowl parties is racist, but that has nothing to do with the average Joe not liking one player.

Let's look at this logically...
1. You had some experience at work and are posting to whine about it to a message board - are you at work? So you are wasting company time and money bc you are a little girl.
2. You don't name the race of the new guy - are people supposed to expect that he's black? Bc he's defending Newton, you think that it's one uniform group and all support one another? (is he asian? hispanic?)
3. you don't see what you did was wrong or else you would not have said that and are only pissed bc your boss walked in.
4. you think that being sent to HR is a problem when it's good business sense that a company protect its assets by minimizing risk when fool employees like you say something out of line.
5. you made a choke sign, which is totally unprofessional and possibly threatening. even a manager with one brain cell would know that's out of line.
6. a good business person always thinks about being polite to subordinates. one day that guy might be your boss. pay it forward, dude.
So, yeah, you did something wrong.
The real question is why you think what you did was acceptable or appropriate.
So answer, why do you think it wasn't a problem?

OP, if you get called into HR, and he files a complaint against you, tell them you are filing one against him also. I'm sure you have several witnesses who heard his racist remark.

Light hearted trash talk always made the workplace more enjotlyabe in my experience.
Part of the fun was seeing how a rival was gonna serve his humble pie to a guy who was trash talking all week. This guy sounds like he sucks & can't handle the heat.
