I have a Speed Queen we bought in 1988 . Runs like the day it was bought and ZERO has been worked on.

Where do you buy speed queen brand?? Had a Kenmote set for 20+ years with no issues. Bought a set 2 years ago ... Working fine. Think it's GE. Like the agitator and being able to select my own water level.

After the suspension rods went out twice now
I think that is what is wrong with mine, it's going off balance during the spin.
How much did it cost you to fix it the first time?
I might just buy a new one instead of calling a repair man.

Who cares, that thing is ugly

That's the sign that they're going out. It keeps getting off balance. I paid right at $100 off some appliance site I found the first time for a set of 4. They weren't too hard to replace, but only lasted a year. Lots of YouTube videos on how to do it because it's so common. I caught a case of the red arse Sunday and threw it to the curb. It was gone in an hour. Told the wife, Monday I'm going get one of those ugly Speed Queens.

I bought mine at Appliance Distributors on Nicholson in Baton Rouge.

This thread reminds me of when Al Bundy finally broke down and bought the Ferguson toilet.
Congrats on your new washer.

I just ordered one from Coburn's in new Iberia. 780 plus tax.

The Speed Queen is the OT's choice when it comes washing machines
The OT also recommends Neato automatic vacuums and that did not end well for me.

The OT shits on almost any mainstream brand.

Mine has been kicking arse and getting grass stains out for a coons age.

best purchase you can make. Thing looks like it's out of the 90's and works like it was made in the 80's (a good thing when talking appliances)

With an LG or Samsung that is giving the DC or OL error DO NOT REPLACE THE RODS WITH THE SAME EXACT ONES. You need to get the upgraded rods. Really Samsung is horrible about this. I change a set of rods at least weekly and IMO it should be an extended warranty.
