I know Rouses is mentioned frequently on here. Is it of Publix quality? I personally have never been to one despite going to Louisiana quite frequently to see family.

My personal favorite is Harris Teeter in the Carolinas. It’s on the pricey side but you won’t see trash in there and the employees are friendly.

What makes a good grocery store in your mind? Other than high prices to keep poor people away.

Not sure how far north it goes, but Harris Teeter at least reaches up to DC.

HEB is the correct answer anyway.

Rouses!

If you are reading this T-Donnie, make a Boosie cereal.

The Fresh Market if that meets the regional qualifications.

Rouses on Carrolton is one of the worst grocery stores in all of the southeastern region of the US. The produce is complete arse. (this in no way answers OP question)

Most HEBs are always fricking packed (unless you live near one of the smaller ones in a fancy neighborhood). I despise when I have to go to one. Its like bumper-carts in their produce section.

I dislike most Krogers, but one is literally 2 minutes from my house.

The regular H-E-B stores, no. Their Central Market stores, yes. The Central Market stores are better than the overrated Whole Foods stores.

I'd rather one of these over Publix... by a wide margin

Rouses is garbage. I’ve never been to one that impressed me, and the employees are of the Popeyes caliber…

This conversation begins and ends with Winn Dixie, in my view.

Real good food from real good people, at a real good price. That's the "Real Deal;" that's Winn Dixie.

I vividly recall working there when that advertising campaign rolled-out, chuckling at the line about "real good people," as I was stocking shelves alongside some of the wackiest guys I've ever met.

Chek brand sodas and Big 60 cookies were the bomb. I used to snack on those while reading "Metal Edge" magazine in the break room. Good times...
