The best.

I prefer some of Winn-Dixie’s house brand products to big brands, especially dairy.

We didn’t have shite here in Mobile then one year we got Whole Foods, Publix and Rouses.

Publix is cheapest of the group has good quality meat, deli has boarshead cheese and sandwich meats etc, abs their bogos are solid.

Rouses (springhill) has great wine beer selection, crawfish, great deli and bakery but they lost boarshead when Publix opened. It’s not cheap.

Whole foods, is nice and go there on occasion but Fresh Market is right by it and just like it more. Just not that hip I guess.

In Mobile i would go

publix
Rouses
fresh Market
whole foods

Real good food from real good people, at a real good price. That's the "Real Deal;" that's Winn Dixie. I vividly recall working there when that advertising campaign rolled-out, chuckling at the line about "real good people," as I was stocking shelves alongside some of the wackiest guys I've ever met.

We closed early and worked overnight to change the entire store for that ad campaign rollout

Wegmans is legit. It used to be more legit when they had the Wegmans Pub inside but Covid caused them to end the Pub.

That store was unheard of massive for its time, at least around here. My mom preferred the Real Superstore though.

IIRC Schwegmann's had better prices

Also it was very clean and immaculate, at least compared to the NO Schwegmann's stores, which usually looked like they'd just been through a hurricane

And who remembers the "Schwegmann's Coming Soon To This Location" sign at the corner of Perkins and Bluebonnet? Sign must have been there for 5 years minimum, maybe 10

A&P, Delchamps, Schwegmann's, Super Store.

Back before Walmart even sold groceries and put a lot of them under.

Rouses is garbage. I’ve never been to one that impressed me, and the employees are of the Popeyes caliber…

The store here in Ponchatoula is the exact opposite of what you describe.

Went to Rouses in Gonzales this morning. A container of cherry tomatoes was molded and their fish sandwiches were garbage.

Only good thing about this store is a cashier named Britni. She is cool and I’d like to give her the beef.

that’s my go to Rouses. The large one in Covington is nice too but the smaller one is terrible

I just spent some time in Nebraska and had never heard of HyVee before but everything about it was great. The store brands especially. Way better than any BR store to me

Hy-Vee is the best chain I've been too. Better than HEB in my opinion.

Another good one is Meijer in Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Canada.
