True, love that area. Some of those houses lining Napoleon are fricking fantastic.

I lived in a little dump basement apartment on Upperline last summer. The location was unbeatable as I could be anywhere in the city in 15 minutes (even during Rush Hour!) and my job was literally a 5 minute commute. I could walk/ride a bike to anywhere I wanted to go. It was also an easy bike ride to Tulane's new football stadium.

Uptown sounds like what you're looking for. Mid city is also an option and will be cheaper for the most part, but not as nice.

If you look up town, stick to the area east of Carrollton, south of Claiborne, north of Tchoupitoulas, and west of Louisiana. If you print out a map and draw this out, it makes a big square.

The closer you are to Magazine the better. The safest area uptown (if you're concerned) would be east of Broadway, south of Dryades, north of Laurel, and west of Louisiana.

If you can afford the warehouse district then i would live there. I guess if u are going to grad school at tulane or loyola uptown would be more convenient though.

There is always fun stuff going on in the warehouse district. That being said it is also easy to get yourself in financial or school related trouble bc of all those fun things.

I enjoy driving from my location in Midcity. I got multiple two and three lane roads, and am at the "hub of the wheel"

Driving from one part of uptown to another part of uptown is a fricking nightmare

I'll be going to school pretty close to city park. How long of a drive would it be from uptown to there every morning? I assume I'll end up being in a duplex or something huh?

Agreed, especially with all of the construction. The only problem with midcity is the random pockets of ghetto. However Bayou St. John area, ect is really really awesome.

Well, with all the construction taking place Uptown at the moment that could very well be a nightmare.

Close to City Park? I'd just find a spot in Mid City. shite is pretty cheap there and it's a cool-arse area.

I recently felt pretty scared in Midcity for the first time. My friend and I were obtaining some herbal medication from a source at night. While we waited in the car I noticed how dark the area was. There was a guy walking down the street with a TV. When we finally got out the car and walked towards the house random neighbors on porches were yelling at us. It was pretty uncomfortable Good shite though, FWIW

This was only like 3 or 4 blocks from Finn McCools.

Yeah, Banks has some seriously questionable residents near Finn's.

If you're going to school near city park I would suggest living near Bayou St. John. Lots of cool stuff happens around there and it's a cool area. As someone said, lots of construction going on through uptown right now and that drive would suuuuck.

I'm walking distance from there. I think the neighborhood is alright but it's borderline I guess. I see a lot of renovations taking place though

So what are the good streets/areas in mid city? As some people as said on here, I have also heard that it's pretty much a crap shoot. One street can be nice and safe and the next one over be straight ghetto.

and.. Old Metairie = Lakeview correct?

I've actually looked around at places ON Bayou St John but most are full or expensive.
