Warehouse District, French Quarter, or Marigny. Everyone should experience living in the FQ for at least a couple of years.

If I was 23 and single I would definitely live in the Quarter or the Marigny, at least for a year. The WHD is full of yuppies living in multistory, which is fine if that's your thing but really misses the point of New Orleans.

Mid City is literally house to house not street to street. My Dr buddy off Carrolton has a crack house across the street.

Aka ambience

thats one of the main reasons we want to move out there. We have a few friends that left uptown and moved out there and have not a single regret.

Do it. Been in Lake Vista 4 years now and my only regret is that I did not move there when my kids were younger. It's the only place in the city a kid can grow up like it is still 1975.

I like Lake Vista, lived in two places there while I was going to UNO. A lot of the houses have mother-in-law apartments with very affordable rents. It was one of the first planned developments in the country, very pedestrian/bike friendly. I just wish the retail stores in Spanish Fort hadn't closed. That was part of the original concept that didn't last very long.

It's also insanely expensive and not really set up for 23 year old singles. Seems like a perfect place for families though.

Midcity by the park or Uptown where you could take Broad to the Dental school. If I was young and single, I wouldn't want to live in Lakeview as it is more of suburban, family area. But it is the safest area you mentioned.

This is what I'm getting at.

So Mid City is basically the area bordering City Park, Carrolton, Canal Street, and Esplanade???

Mid City is (technically) west of Broad, north of the Tulane, South of Orleans, and east/southeast of City Park.
