Ocean Springs > both.

I'm from Baton Rouge, but have lived in Madison the last 7 years. I love it. Aside from having to drive 2.5 hours to get to an LSU game, and a much shorter list of good restaurants to eat at it's a great place to live.

which Mississippi high school do you associate yourself with?

They are. Pass and ocean Springs are their own school district, which helps. Madison and Germantown also have scores reported with Ridgeland and Velma Jackson.

Get down to school level and Lewisburg and Madison central are up there with Pass and Ocean springs.

I'm just going off greatschools.org. I don't know how they calculate it but I don't think they factor in other schools in the district.

here's their list of MS high schools. North MS near Memphis dominates the ratings

I lived there from 2008-10. It is a nice town to raise children. Not so great to be single. Lived in a nice gated neighborhood.

We are in Madison Central's area. Kids are school aged yet.

I would never live there again. Mississippi is full of Baptists and stupid rules. Madison has no character other than keeping brickyards in business.

Can you name a nicer city/town in Louisiana? Or in the south for that matter?

It's marginally acceptable.

That means it's vastly superior to every other Mississippi town in the Jackson region. Probably only comparable to Olive Branch as far as being a pleasant middle class suburb.

My wife grew up in Jackson, but her parents now live on the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Madison. Its incredibly nice.

Lake house, beautiful view, dock for fishing, no crime, nice grocery stores nearby, etc.

But its very, very boring. Perfect for an old couple.

Oxford is the only better place to live in Mississippi IMO.

Maybe a gated community on the coast.

One thing f the perks of BSL is that there are no neighborhoods in general, Old Towne is a mix of everything.

If that Chevron still has chicken on a stick, I'd live by it.

World renowned restaurateur John Currence has 4 restaurants there and you'd live by the gas station that serves fried chicken on a stick.

You're alright.

Remotely consider living in? Where do you live, Charleston or Palm Beach? I am no OM fan, but Oxford would be a great place to live. Madison has great schools, low crime, low taxes, no traffic, affordable housing in good neighborhoods and low unemployment. I can see why they should only "remotely" be considered. Maybe if comparing them to Bora Bora or Turks, but they match up well with any small city in the south.

Here are some articles about the Lost Rabbit situation. There are lots on Trulia and Zillow going for like $30K.
