Fwiw I ‘rescued’ my boxer from a shitty breeder and he’s right up there with the best dogs I’ve ever had.. perfect temperament, great with kids, and just an overall cool arse dog

I recommend boxers to anyone that asks..

Also and FWIW, as a general rule of thumb for dealing with day to day bullshite, always keep in mind, people suck. Get a dog

My dog was in a kill shelter to be euthanized in less than 24 hours before we got her. Am I allowed to say we rescued her??

Couldn't agree with you more. I adopted one of the most beautiful and sweetest dogs you can find. When I got him he was all sorts of messed up, had ringworm and other skin issues. We nursed him back to health and is the happiest, healthiest dog you can find.

if i ever get a dog it will be purebred

There are plenty of purebreds in shelters. My last two huskies came from shelters.

Mine was on the last chance list as well... she's clumsy, doesn't know how to fetch, and can't catch anything unless I throw it into her mouth, but I still love that bitch.

My dog was a legit rescue we took from a house where there were tons of pits being trained to fight.

Upgrayed was adopted by rescue figs

Previous owners left him changed to a pole and moved. There was a smaller dog chained up with him that died a few days after neighbors found him.

The wrong parties in that situation were left chained to the pole.

"Adopting" and "rescuing" are the two most pretentious terms in the history of dog ownership. Just say you went to the fricking pound.

I have two dogs and two cats. All adopted. Never went to the pound.

If I'm getting a dog for the next 10-15 years, I'm getting the dog I want, not rolling the dice on a cute pup of unknown origin.

We currently have 2 corgis. Great dogs. Happy, playful, little fatties they are.

Our next dogs will probably be a boxer and a Frenchie. My wife really wants a Frenchie and we can afford it so get over it.

My MiL had a golden doodle from a breeder and previously had an English bulldog from a breeder. Just wanted to piss you hippies off a little more.

I agree with this post. Although now, a lot of the shelters have taken to charging $200-$300 to “adopt” a puppy.

I meant to say 15 years, not 25.

Yeah, give me a few minutes to host one off my phone and I'll post it.

I don't see rescue that way. That's more of picking up a stray, not adopting or rescuing. Rescuing as I know it came from just dealing with organizations titled as rescue orgs, they are not the same as shelters/pounds and their dogs are typically fostered. Usually a lot more paperwork and application process going this route.

Adopting is just going to animal shelters/pounds.
