Are you looking for a younger dog?
I know LABR typically has older dogs.

Pet finder is a pretty good resource since most local shelters & rescues have their available dogs listed

Definitely not looking for a puppy. Judging by the selection LABR has, boxers in Louisiana must be doing pretty well.

I've had three pound pups over the years, but, decided to go pure bred several months ago. Mini Schnauzer which does not shed. That's spectacular.

I'm with you on the pretentious wording. You definitely triggered folks. Well played, sir.

I've tended to adopt in that 1-2 year old range and sure do have a pretty good idea of what to expect out of the gate. rarely a major curveball

Not all adopted dogs are gotten that way. Rescues probably, but not sure why this would trigger you.

I have a "rescue" and by rescue I mean he showed up at my house two months ago and my kids love him. So he stayed.

I can't upvote enough. My last 3 have been rescues. Last 2 from the Louisiana Sheltie Rescue.
First had been abused, and it was a year before she would bark. The 2nd had "bit" the ladies kid. Thinking the kid pulled hair, and he was setting the line. My current one, had been a stray in Lake Charles. With my current move, I think the people moved, and left him. He was already microchipped, and the owners never returned the calls, or said they didn't want him.
All amazingly sweet dogs.

That’s awesome. Congrats man. I have a marbled bengal that I’ve had for 15 years now. Mickie Mantle! She’s great, I love her to death. Great freaking cat.

When you bring a dog home from the freaking pound are you not adopting it?

What'a stupid thing to care about

I got lucky and assumed ownership of an 80 pound red golden retriever whose owner could no longer take care of him due to being reassigned in the Navy. He is an amazing dog, I just wish he didn't shed so much.

Despite all the crappy banter - this thread reminded me of how awesome my dogs have been over the years.

I miss them all. But I don't miss the responsibility of caring for them all the time. I am now rocking the life with two hilarious cats.

But man dogs are awesome.

Yea, dogs are awesome. We had a pure bred cocker spaniel growing up. Awesome dog.

People should get the dog they want.

Get a lab if you’re an avid duck hunter.

Get a corgi if you have young kids and a wife at home.

Get a rescue wiener dog mix if you want to get lots of hot arse on bumble.

Good for you. We’ve got four rescues. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

I would be more encouraged to adopt if humane societies weren't such nazis.
