I agree with this for the most part. It's a direct result of the schools having zero power or balls to enforce real discipline at public schools. I have been out of high school for 20 years, and just in that short period of time, the ability of public schools to police themselves, and discipline students has completely gone away.

I'm not saying parents should play their part, but it's not always on the kid. Some of these teachers suck
Are you somehow blaming teachers for students fighting in front of cops and getting arrested?

Go fight real crime Bruh. If the authorities at the schools can't handle or discipline the students, they shouldn't be teaching. We need strong men and women with character and principles teaching our kids. Not chucks and betas
And how exactly do you go about disciplining a kid who tells you to go frick yourself when you can't touch them, suspending them is exactly what they want, can't arrest them according to you, and the parents will always, ALWAYS back their child?
And don't give me any more of that "strong character" bullshite. These kids don't give a flying frick, and no amount of "strong character" will change that.

This type of comment reeks of ignorance. As teachers, there is literally nothing that we can do to the students to "discipline" them. The steps in any public school's discipline plan present zero consequences that the majority of students find to be negative. With no fear and idiot parents who run up to the school and berate administrators any time they don't like something that their child tells them, it's out of control.

These students are the perfect candidates for the whole "you choose between prison or the army" option.
Either they get the discipline they need or die fighting (cheaper than prison), or they end up going to jail which is where they're likely to wind up later in life anyway.

I agree as well. Respect is more than jsut "I'm
An adult, you must respect me."
It's how an adult conducts themselves, treats others, and leads young people. the adult is the adult in this situation --- they have to be able to command respect in be way the lead

Its not always about this. Some of these kids home life is so completely dysfunctional that no real adult can get them to ack rite.

Lawsuits, and cultcha have taken any and all power away from adults that want to be adults. The real adults are too scared to lose their jobs, and money over these kids. So they just hand it over to the court system.

You sound like one of our completely out of touch education policy makers. Dumbass.

no doubt the population of the school are white, hispanic, and asian. They tend to be the more violent at school

Volunteer to teach at a public school with a student population made up of almost entirely free or reduced lunch and get back to me.

Thank you. Where I teach, the percentage of students on free/reduced lunch is 85.7.

There is zero authority in schools. None.
That is a legal quagmire created by shitty parents who don't want their children disciplined and refuse to discipline them at home.

sad part is there are probably some kids going to school there that would like to earn something
would be tough if you were a run of the mill kid who couldn't get into whatever their version of "advanced" classes is

Maybe they should stop bussing kids from Opelousas over to Port Barre and shut that school down like they should have when they built North Central.
Found your old thread LINK. That was Tucker Melancon wasn't it? The M(inority) to M(ajority)? That was the genesis of the downward spiral of where it's at today.
So you and Barry played at OC in 1999-2002? I recall OC at PB that year (1999) among all the other meetings.

Police doing the parent's job.

That's the problem, obviously. No responsibility from the parents. There is another write-up here from KADN.

Only since they started bussing from Opelousas!

Schools were much better in St Landry before the Fed Gov had to show us who was boss.
