Two black pastors filed a lawsuit against Coca-Cola and the American Beverage Association last week, claiming that soda manufacturers knowingly deceive consumers about the health risks associated with the drinks, costing their communities lives through illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
quote:
“It’s become really clear to me that we’re losing more people to the sweets than to the streets,” Coates told the Post “There’s a great deal of misinformation in our communities, and I think that’s largely a function of these deceptive marketing campaigns.”
quote:
As the report notes, obesity, hypertension, diabetes and other ailments affect more people of color than their white counterparts. Those communities also consume more soda and are more exposed to advertising about soda.
quote:
Coca-Cola, however, is dismissing the claims against it, saying that the company “understands that we have a role to play in helping people reduce their sugar consumption,” pointing to the development of low-calorie and no-calorie beverages.

Once again, we see a group claim that black people are just too dumb to know that something like Coke is bad for them when consumed excessively.
It's 2017, you have an infinite amount of information at your fingertips 24/7, but you don't know drinking 3 liters of Coke a day is bad for you?
It's never their fault.

Man its a frick'd up society. Why aren't people in the hood drinking more water? Its free. Even if water quality is shite then go to store and buy a flat of water for $3. Less than it costs to buy a single bottle of coke.

We need to force plaintiffs to pay the defense's legal fees if they lose to cut down on the number on frivolous suits like this that waste time, money, and clog up the court system.

No they don't. They provide a product. It is up to the individual if they decide to consume said product. It is the individuals decision if they consume it in moderation or in excess, rotting out their teeth and getting diabetes.

Before clicking the thread I was expecting the suit to be related to coke being black.
