Of course we have no intention of hiring anyone but Parcells. This is an Interim Head Coaching position and while that may not effect the Rooney Rule's application, it significantly effects who the viable candidates for the job are. It's not like this is the first time the Rooney Rule will be adhered to in letter rather than spirit.

yes.

An understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people as a minority group or groups has gained prominence in the Western world since the 19th century. The abbreviation LGBT is currently used to group these identities together. The term queer is sometimes understood as an umbrella term for all non-normative sexualities and gender expressions, but does not always seek to be understood as a minority; rather, as with many Gay Liberationists of the 1960s and '70s, it sometimes represents an attempt to uncover and embrace the sexual diversity in everyone.

Rooney Rule is making a mockery of itself, no help needed from the Saints. Herm acts like this is the first time any organization has done this.

Now, this really is dumb.
Not only do you have to obey the rooney rule, if you don't obey the "spirit" of the rooney rule, you're picked apart in the media.

We should very publicly interview a black, mexican, asian, woman, homosexual, transexual, cripple, teenager, nonagenarian, and mentally handicapped person all in the same day.

The interview should be simple:

Loomis: "How many super bowls have you won?"

Minority Candidate: "Ummm...None"

Loomis: "Interview over...Parcells wins 2-0."

As a black man I think the Rooney rule is utter and complete horseshite! If you want a guy no matter the color hire him period! Plus why do we have to interview for the interim...the Saints have a Head Coach already he is just on a temporary hiatus.

Or an all in one of the above.

If I was most on that list, I would go in the business of being the interviewie.

The rule is racist to toward white people. Did we have to bring in a white fa linebacker before offering lifting a contact? What's the fricking difference.

Take it easy man...

My point was taken WAY out of context. It was more about University Pride.

Again, why do we have to follow the Rooney rule at all, if we are not allowed to talk to the majority of the available candidates anyway?

Loomis should take a camera crew to a NOLA underpass and interview a random black homeless guy. Ask him if he is interested in the Saints HC job. He won't know what the Saints are. Give him a dollar for some booze. Turn the camera off. Rooney Rule : Check!

This is so fricking stupid. We don't have a head coaching vacancy! Our coach will be away from the team for a year and we're looking for a stop gap until he gets back. Why the frick do we need to interview anyone regardless of race if we have someone in mind.
