No worries, it wouldn't surprise me at all if you were right, I was just wondering the source.

SP said he wanted to return back to the power run game and I just don't think PT is the best one of the 3 RBs to do that

He is always in the top of the NFL in yards after contact

Why? Most veteran RB on the team. Always been underrated. Doesn't cost the sun, moon and stars. Fits the offense great and knows it as well as anyone not names Brees or Payton.

I hope Ingram gets more touches, as well as Khiry, but IMO Thomas was important to keep moreso than Sproles

Agree with all of this. PT is the best all-purpose back we have right now. Hopefully Ingram will grow into that role but for now PT is a very versatile player and he doesn't tip our hand when he comes into the game. Even though he's getting a little older now (for a RB), because he's been platooned he still has some tread on the tires I think. I'm happy about this signing.

PT is just the man. I doubt he will ever be recognized for how great he really is.

I'm happy they found a way to lower his salary and keep him.

This! I was worried Brees would be killed with the current O-line and Ingram starting.

PT gives us options the others can't offer.

Best blocking back we have, that's for sure.

I laugh at everyone that says this. Ingrams blocking is one of his strengths. Hes just as good at blocking as PT. People just reiterate redundant shite to where its more repetitive lip service more than truth.

PT is a solid back when given the opportunity. Besides, with Sproles gone, who handles the screen?

I just thought with Ingram/Robinson showing us so much during the playoffs, we would've saved money by not having to keep a 2-3mil back and use that money elsewhere.

I honestly didn't have the warm and fuzzies about Ingram and KRob being our main RB options going in to next year.

Actually, according to PFF, besides penalties, his worst graded category was pass blocking. He had a -.6, while PT had .1. Not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless.

Ok, so now who is our "scat back"?
Who fills the Bush / Sproles role in the offense now?

Don't tell me Robinson or Pierre. Def. not Ingram.

I love everything Pierre has done for us, but this is a mistake if you ask me. This is the same thing as being "loyal" to Vilma and Will Smith. We all know how that worked out last year.

Even if we did go in with Ingram and Robinson, we would still need to address the position with some sort of depth. You don't go from PT, Sproles, Ingram and Robinson to Ingram and Robinson and expect to improve. This deal is a win/win for both sides.

PT had 77 receptions last year, Sproles had 71 so I think PT fills your role of "scat back" unless you have some other criteria. Cadet will fight it out with the rooks for the 4th spot.
