In 2013 there was a consensus here of wanting Jarvis Jones at the #15 pick instead of Vaccaro. Jones (selected #17) might stick with the Steelers but they declined his 5th year option. For me, that's essentially saying "we missed". But he's not the only one. #6 pick Mingo from LSU did not have his option picked up after 2 sacks in the past 2 years. Worse still, Dion Jordan #3 overall is on the roster bubble to even make the Dolphins roster at all.

So although Vaccaro hasn't turned into all world, he has still turned out better than several options we might have thought were better at the time.

with the 5th year option in hand for Vaccaro I hope he balls out best as he did playing a more hybrid role.

The melt was glorious that night.
And a lot of those folks wanted just those you mentioned and are a large reason why.
I can't remember who I wanted but I know I didn't know who the hell V was

Mingo and Jones absolutely. Aside from the PEDs, I'd still hold out hope for Jordan simply because a 4-3 team taking a 230 lb DE and putting him on the line when he played 34 LB was really stupid.

I wanted Eric Reid.. He covers a lot of ground for a safety who was always known for being a big hitter

I was definitely on the Jones band wagon, but still woudl have preferred Reid to Vaccaro.

I can't recall, but wasn't he gone by then?

Reid went three picks after at 18 to the 49ers. I wanted Reid.

I'm happy we picked Vaccaro in hindsight.

I blew a fuse that night. I remember when UGA played Florida, Jarvis's last year and like single handly won the game. From that point I wanted Jarvis so bad. Kept seeing his name on the mocks and when he was there I thought, "it is happening!!!" When they called Vaccaro I melted hard. Got all into it with buddies who were Vaccaro supporters. Vaccaro hasn't been amazing but I've had to eat a lot of crow since then. Jarvis is awful!!!

Outside his rookie year KV hasn't been all that good for us either. I'm surprised we decided to pick his option up tbh. I think KV's suckage is a big reason why Byrd hasn't shown much here since he's forced into a role KV can't do.

I will still say this to this day that some one or some folks got to him. He was a human missile and a force on the field his rookie season.

The fear he instilled has been nil since then. He plays more careful now.

I think he was one of the few players in that shite defense to grade positively last season according to PFF. So he's not bad but he's also not as good as he was his rookie year.
Reid and him have graded out similarly the last 3 years as well.

I always thought Dion Jordan and Bark Mingo were risks due to size and build. They reminded me of Jarvis Moss, a huge bust drafted by Denver in 2007.

He played really well last year. He was one of the few bright spots.

Byrd has been dealing with a black hole at the #2 CB spot and no pass rush. KV isn't the problem.

For the second year in a row teams killed us with short passes all over and deep passes to our #2 CB.

The short passes prevent a pass rush from forming. Hopefully this year Lewis, Breaux, Swann, and Ellerbe stay healthy and Laurinaitis and Robertson are really legit in coverage. Anthony should be better in coverage on the outside.

That's because Florida's offensive line that year was horrible.
