just like people over want people from LSU the flipside is people tend to over hate people from LSU because of the former.

Claiborne was having a great rookie season under Ryan before he got hurt. Then he was cast into a terrible system. Reunited with Ryan would probably benefit him the most as he still develops. I dont think the cowboys are looking to move him, but it would be a great move for us.

Well it is true. He has been one of the poorest rated cbs in the league. But please, keep spelling like a 4 year old.

Would you then agree or contest that he is also playing in an archaic system that doesn't at all suit his skill set?

If so, would that not explain his poor rating?

Let's get Matt Flynn too since Drew is obviously in sharp decline. Might as well get J-Rock to back him up.

First off, Dallas looks to be 20+ million over the 2014 salary cap. Cutting Claiborne would cost them 5.8 million in cap hits while a trade would cost them roughly 700,000 in cap space.

I don't think the Saints would want to trade a high enough draft pick to really entice the Cowboys into trading him (wherein they lose a CB and 700k in cap space). And it's quite clear that the Cowboys can't afford to cut him this offseason (even as a June 1st cut).

The sad part is that these threads keep on coming and they get 5 pages of attention. I used to love LSU, but the barrage of these idiotic homer threads have made me lose my passion for the tigers. Miles + annoying fans = disliked team
Maybe you should look into a website not called TIGERdroppings?

Claiborne did pretty well last year despite CB being one of the hardest adjustments to make in the NFL.

I wouldn't say he played well at all. I would say that he isn't suited for their defense and Rob Ryan likes him

QBs completed 61.5% of the passes thrown his way and had a rating of 94.3 against him

I think he could be had... I'd give up a 3 for him without thinking twice.

I could care less that he went to LSU. Zero fricks.

I'd love to have him. Rookie contract too.

Or we could just spend that 3rd rounder on a corner that would have an even better contract for us and couldn't play worse than Claiborne has so far in his career

No he wasn't. He played worse his rookie season than last season and played better down the stretch

passers had a 107.8 rating against him his rookie season and completed 70% of their passes against him

Who do you suggest we draft at the end of the third round that will have more upside than MC?

It's hard to judge a CB by their rookie season in the NFL. Hell, PP7 didn't have stellar coverage his rookie year. He was just a beast at returning punts.

I'd really like to see him in a press man defense where I think his strengths lie.

Are you talking about 2012 or 2013? My original comment was about 2012

The way that Claiborne has played he isn't as useful as Patrick Robinson.

I know a bunch of people that wrote off Ronde Barber after his first couple of seasons too. Mo Clairborne still has tons of potential, and look at Dallas - I don't think anyone could have succeeded in that system this year.

Pierre Desir, out of Lindenwood

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, out of Nebraska

Walt Aikens, out of Liberty
- 6'1" 205
(He could very well end up being an UDFA)
All three or 3-5 rounders with great up side. All are long, athletic, and like contact. Which is exactly what Seattle does to WR's. I can imagine all would thrive in press man scheme's like Rob Ryan's where they an use there length to gain leverage rather than playing in space.

I do highly doubt Dallas would give him up for just a third round pick though

Claiborne has all the physical tools to be a great cover corner in the NFL. The problem he's had was adjusting his first year and then being placed into a system that fit his skillset about as poorly as a system could.

There is a reason some corners look all world one year and then suck the next, and it has to do with the system.

Jason David is a prime example. He looked above average/very good in Indy before joining the saints. Indy played a Tampa 2 defense which is predominantly zone. The Saints bring him in to a man cover scheme and he's burnt toast.

Also, it is rare that CB's perform great their first year or two. It's a tough transition.

Look at Robinson, he struggled mightily last season at CB in Spags system, but wasn't horrible his first two years at times in a press man system. If he recovers well from his injury, he'll be a potential surprise contributor this coming season.

That said, if the Saints could get Claiborne for a third or 4th, then they'd better jump on it, but it isn't that likely.
