I wonder if there's a site that keeps track of "prominent" analyst mock drafts and their success rate.

eat: from 2008 Draft Scorecard - 2008

Pretty bad.

I know someone is going to unexpectedly drop on draft day. I think that's who the Saints will take.

a few years ago that is exactly what happened with Cameron Jordan. Teams made surprising picks at QB that helped him fall to us.

I think OL will be the wildcard here. The Martin kid from ND can play every OL position except for C. That wouldn't be a bad addition if he falls. Also, I know this board would flip it's shite, but I wouldn't be shocked to hear Cyrus Kouandijo's name called. It depends on the Saints big board, obviously. If you're drafting for depth it's not a terrible place to start.

No doubt about it. I'd actually be surprised if the Saints picked a WR in Round 1. There is plenty of depth at the position in this year's class.

I know they picked Meachem at this same spot back in 2007. He was the last real surprising pick IMO. PRob would be next but the Saints had a plan back then because they were moving Jenkins to safety. Still raised some eyebrows with that pick. I didn't really care at the time. I was still in such a good mood after finally seeing the Saints win a Super Bowl.

let me ask you this question than, would you take Antonio Brown. Because that is who i see Beckham as

yea i love Antonio brown. Still, let's see if he can string a few years together like that.

I still stand by my point that we could use any type of WR help, and same as pass rusher or anything else if the Saints have one as the clear BPA on their board at 27 they should take him.

I agree 100%. Im just against the whole mantra that "we can only get a WR1 caliber player at 27".

I'm actually all for going BPA (especially Kouandijo).

If reports are true, he could play guard or tackle. If we can use a 1 year development for him, by next year we could plug him in and get rid of grubbs' contract.

As for receiver, this draft is deep enough that we could get a WR#1 caliber player in the 2nd. I don't think we should honestly reach in the 1st if all the major guys are taken.

Here's a more recent one. While this still doesn't prove that mock drafts are anything but useless, Kiper is actually 5th on an average of the last 5 years. LINK

Mock drafts suffer greatly from the possibility of trades. One trade which is impossible to predict can reverb through the rest of the draft greatly.

Remember that time last year when Kiper projected us to get either Olgetree, Jarvis Jones, or Eric Reid

We went with a guy no one had us picking and we ended up pretty well I trust the FO

Olgetree and Reid were both better than Vaccaro. Just saying

True but I think KV is more versatile. Both will be great for a long time.

I think having Bryd will allow Vaccaro to be more aggressive towards the ball. He's always been the strongest guy in coverage in any defense he's been in (say outside of Lewis). Now with a guy who instinctive, and doesn't let guys get past him very often, they can be more aggressive, as will the rest of the defense.

We paid Bryd good money not only for his ball skills, but the trickle down effect it'll have to the rest of the defense.

yea im not saying their is a huge gap there. But we celebrate had we landed Ogletree or Reid with the way their rookie years went

Extremely debatable. All 3 are definitely legit, but I give Vaccaro the edge in his versatility.

Reid had more picks because of the way he was used + all the pro bowlers he played with making it easy on him. Outside of that 3 int edge his stats are comparable to Vaccaro's.

Had Vaccaro been used almost exclusively as a deep safety like Reid I'm sure he would have gotten a couple of more.

Ogletree had solid stats but nothing that screams pro bowler.

I agree. Any team that landed any of those two were better for it. I guess I prefer Vaccaro because of his nastiness.

he had 120 tackles, forced 6 fumbles, and had a pick. Also was great in pass coverage. dude made a ton of plays every time i watched the Rams.

Yeah I said he was legit. I just also said his stats didn't SCREAM pro bowler meaning he had a very good year but not anything better than Vaccaro or Reid. I'd love to have any of the 3 but am very happy with Vaccaro and his versatility.

To put it another way, if we had Ogletree I wouldn't be clamoring for a coverage LB we so desperately need because he's that guy, but then we'd likely have a hole at safety to fill.

If we could land a guy like Ogletree in the first I'd be happier than with any WR we could get.

he was usually there to bottle up PT or Sproles each time they were catching passes out of the back field when we played them.

a lot of the time it seemed like they were unassisted tackles.

the guy has a lot of speed.

I'm not real sure which LB I'd want the Saints to pick. Mosley? Shazier? Van Noy?

there was a real good read on Van Noy on a site i use to frequent. I'll check my search history and see if I can pull it up.
