For the record, I wouldn't hate the Ford pick.....I doubt he''ll even be there.

It's no secret that I've been on the Brandin Cooks pain train.....for where he's been generally ranked in mocks, I think he ends the truly special class of WR's.

At first I was analyzing starters and upgrade needs, but then I went into needs as far as depth. I didn't really clearly separate it and instead presented it in rant form

I like Cooks too.

I just think some good WRs will fall. Bruce Ellington is a similar player to Cooks.

Jordan Matthews, Kelvin Benjamin, Allen Robinson, Robert herron Donte Moncreif, Jarvis Landry, Martavius Bryant could all be guys we target in RD2 that have the same upside as guys in late Rd1

People that want a WR in round 1 just don't understand value, and the depth of WR in this draft.

Ford would be an excellent pick IMO. COrnerback I could understand too

Bingo!

The Saints offense has hummed along for years with just average WRs. It will continue to do the same even if the Saints don't take a WR in this draft. You can find a WR in the 2nd round who can be a great addition to the team. Hell, you could probably find a WR in the 5th round and be just fine.

CB is a premium position in the NFL, and there would be no reason to be upset if the Saints go in that direction. Likewise, I would not be upset if they went with a passrusher. A team can never, NEVER, have "too many" good pass rushers.

Same here. But I feel like he is going top 20, if not top 15.

Given the QBs the Saints have to deal with, speed off the edge will be useful.
Cam Newton, fine. But the legless Matt Ryan and Josh McCown scare the fricking bejesus out of us all, AMIRITE?

Like all the rest of the pundits.

Of course Butler is coming of a serious knee injury and is in the last year of his contract, so taking Dee Ford is not out of the question if some other guys they like are gone. But I don't see a DE/OLB hybrid as our most pressing need.

you can never have enough pass rushers.

according to this board Galette plays defensive end every down, so its not like they would even play the same position

Hey, I'm not hating on Butler....obviously I wanna see the kid ball out. However, it baffles me a little bit that people act like he has a track record and will be this stud. I hope he is, but if there ever was any doubt about how much he can contribute, there has to be even more question now with the knee injury.

But you're right...this has been discussed before.

At the least, he's capable depth on top of what the Saints fielded last season.

Sorry, should've directed my post towards OP.

Just being sarcastic cuz Kiper has already mentioned Ford before in one his previous "heralded" mocks. Not the OP's fault either.....we're all subjected to Kiper's ignorance.
