Why does everyone want to get rid of Jenkins. Dude is good...most of the reason we didnt get scored on even more. Robinson is abysmal...Greer aint much better dont know why he's getting vouched for cause he gets beat A LOT as well. Harper maybe the slowest SS Ive ever seen and cant defend anyone off the line. Jenkins is the only one Id even give a shot to stay if they could all go. The man was trying to defend deep and help Robinson out cause he was gettin torched. Besides...Greer and Ribinson are both crazy short.

We could likely get him for $5 mil or less in year one, but we have to save some of that for draft picks(around $2 mil because they will knock a few guys making 4-5 hundred thousand off the top 51 and won't cost that much more).
So can we get him in for $3 mil year one? That's the question. And if we get him we are pretty much done in free agency unless we do make some cuts.
Remember, he's getting 4 million from Philly this year no matter what, so he's not going to be as expensive as you thinj.

Robinson catches way too much flack from fans here. The coaching staff are smart, so they aren't cutting him.
You play Nickle over 60% of the time in today's NFL, so having Nnamdi, Greer, and Robinson in man coverage bodes well for our defense.

They are listed as 5'11 on ESPN. That is not crazy short.

You should not allow silly things like facts get in the way of the popular narrative.

So what would be the chances that Keenan would then play some FS in obvious passing situations?

You mean the one td hbe saved by running down Jackson?
I do like the kid's potential, but not at FS. He very often misdiagnosis the play, takes bad angles, and shows poor tackle form. This is the exact opposite of what a FS should be.
On the other hand he can read single receivers well, shows great recovery speed(which is his one redeeming quality at FS as well), and hits with good power(but poor form). This makes him pretty good for a man corner.
Honestly I think he'd do better at SS but Harper is better in every category there except coverage.

Waking up to see this is definitely good news.
Any more truth to it? Any other "sources" confirming this?
I won't worry about the logistics of it. They wouldn't be bringing him in if they didn't have the money to sign him. And yes, they do know they have to pay the draft picks as well. I'm going to let Loomis and the money people worry about that, nothing we can do from here anyway.
Looking forward to seeing what unfolds.

I think this would give us a lot of flexibility in our personnel packages, which would include Lewis at FS, etc.
We could also disguise coverage a lot more because the defense can rotate guys back there pre-snap.

This kind of stuff doesn't have much bearing on signing a long term contract. If a guy is more motivated about championships than money he may take it into account, but most guys want to get the most money possible.
I mean look at Brees. He talks a good game but he sure did press the Saints hard for everything he could squeeze out. He's worth it but damn does it cripple us.

Never thought of that angle. He does display great ball skills(minus poor catching) and knows how to play zone. Hell I'd be all for switching him and Jenkins around.

Brees's contract doesn't cripple us at all. Stop listening to the BS from the media.

If he actually makes it in for a visit, I have a hard time seeig Ryan let him leave the building without a contract. This would be a huge pickup for the new scheme.

09.00 Update
VISIT! From Matt Maiocco this one who reports that Nnamdi Asomugha is on his way to visit the Saints. New Orleans clearly were not happy with the production they got from their cornerbacks last year, as can be told from the acquisition of Keenan Lewis. But is Asomugha the right answer? There seems to be a 50/50 split right now as to whether “Scrabble” was ever as good as he was hyped, or whether the Eagles just mismanaged him, not using him as a press corner enough. Never mind he spent the fourth highest amount of time of any corner lined up as a press corner in coverage, but still.

It's not bs. How does one guy taking up $17 mil of the cap not cripple us.
Last year he was still "cheap" at $10 mil, but the extra $7 this year could have been a top flight FA or 2 really good ones.
He's making twice as much as the next guy(an over payed Smith) and we are forced to back load all these contracts.
Playing wise he gives us to best chance to win which is why I said he's worth it. But cap wise you can't say one guy making that much doesn't hamper us from bringing in better guys. It definitely cripples us.
This is why the Colts released Manning(along with injury concerns) when they saw th chance to go younger and dirt cheap(for a starting QB). This is why the Pats have to restructure Brady every year(and even he gave in and went dirt cheap on the added years at 1/3 his asking price).
The Ravens and Falcons(and eventually Green Bay) will be in the same boat.

Pressing at the line does not equal playing man coverage. There's press man and press zone. If someone can show he played that many snaps at press man I'll be worried. Until then, even from eagles fans, I've heard it said he was played in too much zone.
Having seen our own corners go from at least decent to horrible last year because of that fact, I'm willing to trust he is still at least a good corner.

I only think it affects us as far as bpa is concerned. It's less money to fill another need in FA(LT, OLB, backup QB, and backup TE).

I think we're always going BPA according to our boards.
