I meant with defense, sorry.

but yeah, I'm not going to sit here and shite on the guy, don't get me wrong.

I'm not really fired up about this draft. At this point, I'd rather see a OT get picked to be honest. I mean we haven't hit a homerun on defense in the first round of the draft since.....

?

and no, that isn't all his fault obviuosly but you know what i'm getting at.

Not sure we'd have to cut anyone to get Nnamdi

No body knows just how much money we have, except for the FO and NFL league office, but I doubt there's enough money to sign him without cutting someone.

Also, what a lot of folks are missing is that there's only 53 roster spots...somebody is getting booted.

This regime doesn't really value the left tackle that highly though. They're more about the interior line. I don't think they take a tackle in the 1st unless it's a really really good value.

But that isn't at all realistic.

I don't know if they cut Jenkins but the rest is pretty realistic.

Jordan sure in the hell improved from year one to two and his big asset was run stuffing. 8 sacks from a run stuffer, especially when he had such bad play around him, is pretty damn good. Throw in 41 solo stops, 3 passes deflected, and 3 forced fumbles and he has pretty good all around game.

Now outside of Jordan, best we've had recently is Smith and that was in 04. Jordan is looking to surpass him.

So I'll give you everyone else, even Smith, but Jordan is looking damn fine to me.

That is why they made the "he has a rash on his leg, IR him"

spotrac is pretty damn accurate and without the number for Drescher added in has us at around $5.5 mil below(so about $5 mil below once you factor him in).

Saying no one knows isn't true. Maybe if we talking down to the dollars and cents level, but spotrac even has it down to dollars.

We could likely get him for $5 mil or less in year one, but we have to save some of that for draft picks(around $2 mil because they will knock a few guys making 4-5 hundred thousand off the top 51 and won't cost that much more).

So can we get him in for $3 mil year one? That's the question. And if we get him we are pretty much done in free agency unless we do make some cuts.

So no, we don't HAVE to cut anyone to sign him unless he's asking more than $5 mil cap hit year one. It would help if we want to add one or two other players though.

As for your 53 man comment, we don't have to get down to 53 until close to the start of the regular season. Right now you can have up to 90 I believe(was 80 before the new cba).

My dream would be sign nnamdi, cut jenkins, drop back a little bit in the first to pick up a 2nd rounder:
1) Kenny Vaccaro
2) Jamie Collins
3) Brandon Williams
4) Travis Kelce
Trades:
1. Send a 5th rounder to the Giants for Eli as backup QB...Giants pay all but $2 mill a year on remainder of the contract,
2. PRob straight up for Revis and the Jets pickup the difference in salary,
3. Trade Ingram to the Titans, straight up, for C. Johnson,
4. Trade Morgan to Arizona for Fitz....Cardinals pay the difference in money

The beautiful thing about dreams is they cost nothing and anything is possible.

perhaps... I mean I'm glad about the full time switch to a 3-4 in particular for him.

I mean I remember Mark Fields, Renaldo Turnbull, and Joe Johnson too. Those guys were all solid players but I guess it just depends on your opinion of a homerun pick. If I'm leaving out others, I'm sorry. I just can't go back as far as others, at least not off the top of my head.

I can't help but feel nervous about the draft. But getting back to Nnamdi, he would be reunited with his old coach Rob Ryan whom he played for really well in Oakland. I'd think he'd be chomping at the bit to bounce back strong after a disappointment in Philly.

Jordan will really excel in 3-4, and i can't wait to see what he can do.

No problems man. I was looking at it from a recent standpoint and totally agree that our defensive 1sts have not panned out well, outside of Jordan. And the only other one I'd call good would be Smith but he has certainly not been a homerun.

Just making sure you weren't overlooking him.

Jordan was the only consistent player we had on the D.
He'll improve even more as he gets closer to the end of his rookie contract and we'll have another W. Smith situation on our hands.

Probably will tell Harper or Greer to take a paycut

And while not nervous about the draft, I'm not getting my expectations too high especially if we go defense or wr.

Nnamdi I feel had the same problem in philly that our corners had last year with Spags. Greer, PRob, and Nnamdi are all very much man corners. They've never played much zone and aren't built for it.

Trying to throw a man corner into full time zone is just as bad as trying to try a zone corner into full time man(Jason David ring a bell?). They use completely different skill sets.

This is also why I feel Jenkins moving to safety was a bad idea. He was showing to be a good man corner at the nickel but struggles playing zone as a safety.

Lofton was consistent, and Greer was consistently good when healthy. Like others have said, Jordan is gonna excel with RR and will hopefully earn a good payday next contract.

Harper has too much leverage right now and Greer isn't sitting bad at the negotiating table either.

Their dead money number plays in their favor too much. Harper loses some of that come June 1st but Greer becomes a real cut candidate at that point.

Jenkins, for as bad as he played, is definitely a possible cut being that he'd save $2.5 mil. IAQ is cheaper and clearly out played him.
