I doubt the Rockets let it be known. What probably happened is a GM interested in Asik for cheap told Stein that the pieces Houston is asking about are pieces they'd probably try and flip again and then let Stein put 2 and 2 together.

It was pretty common knowledge after he threw a temper tantrum a couple weeks ago.

Nola - Courtney Lee and Omer Asik
Boston - Eric Gordon and Isaiah Canaan
Houston - Kris Humphries and Marshon Brooks
Nobody other than Gordon gets significant minutes for their team. I'm not sure how Houston would feel about this but they get a young player in Brooks who played pretty well his rookie year but hasn't had much of a chance in Boston. They also get Humphries who is an expiring contract that they can either flip at the deadline or let expire and have more cap space for free agency this off season.
This allows the pelicans to keep Evans off the bench since Lee could come in and start at the two. Lee is a career 38% three point shooter who could also play at the end of the game if we want to play Evans at the three.

Boston trade would possibly involve Rondo??

I don't see why Portland would do that. Batum >> Parsons. LMA >>>>>>>>>> Ryan.
Idk if you guys remember but we were a BAtum throw in away from CP3. Batum does a lot of things well. He can pass, shoot, defend. Only knock I have on Bat um is the he's a little too passive. Sometimes it looks like he's not even going to make an attempt to score even if he has a clear lane.
I'm not going to bother with the other half.
We lose an inside presence on offense, which would be huge for the offense Stotts is running. It would make our 2nd biggest weakness an even bigger one. Without Aldridge, we'd need a slasher. We have none.

I agree with you on Batum, he's arguably the 3rd best SF in the league behind LJ and KD. Zero chance Portland moves Aldridge though.

+1 these two guys are about as comparable as any 2 players in the league.

Batum has been overrated by this board for a while now. He's having a good year, though.
Posted on 12/8/13 at 1:37 pm to hendersonshands
He really started to break out last year. He just played with a hurt wrist most of the season. Assuming good health, he should start to look pretty good. It doesn't help that he plays basketball year round too but if he wants to play for his country who am I (or Blazers) to tell him he can't.

I'd love to see the numbers that show that Batum is the better player.
