This happened to a guy I knew about 8 years ago. Was wasted at about 3am and banged on his girlfriends door. He kicked it in after the owner yelled he had a gun. when it opened the owner fired what he thought was a warning shot above his head and hit him above the eye. He was 6'6.

So awful. RIP

I understand the theory and that it does happen. But he kicked one door in and attempted to kick a 2nd. That doesn't really jive if that is actually

One of the cops on the scene is a friend. Called and told me about it early this morning. I thought he was joking. The guy was really wasted and made a bad mistake.

I have a relative that did this almost exact scenario but luckily didn't get shot. It is sad but you don't go kicking doors down to places knowing it's not your house. Yeah he may have been drunk but he knew it wasn't his house. Believing it was an ex girlfriend's place doesn't make it ok at all.

Horrific news, such a tragedy. I'm sure more details will be available next week. The whole incident is still a very blurry story. Most of the general public has already labeled him as a thug on a minimum contract that needed money, which is completely, and hopefully not the case.

It seems to have been an accident. Jones was 100% intoxicated or else why would he try to break open a door whom he presumably thought was his girl friends or estranged girlfriend, whatever may be the case.

The truth is, he was in Dallas for his daughters 1 year birthday, not to break in or rob somebody. The fact that this girl he was trying to get too literally lived in the EXACT same complex just a floor up or down shows this was most likely an accident.

It's just fricked up how the public can already label this guy a thug that "deserved to be shot" when they don't have any information and are just reading ESPNs article.

RIP Bryce.

What are u talking about? We pieced it together already. Even if he mistakenly thought that was the girl's appartment u can't go kicking down doors.

So if your friend, or girl friend is passed out(maybe from drinking) and was supposed to let you in the house you would sleep outside? When your black out drunk you really can't comprehend any sort of consequence you just do what you feel is neccesary.

I'm not saying kicking down doors is a good thing but what I am saying is it's still a tragic incident. He wasn't trying to hurt anybody. Like I also already stated we will get more details.

Let's say your girl friend or wife is supposed to let you in and she won't pick up the phone or answer the door. You live in an apartment complex and you are incredibly intoxictaed, what do you do?

A sober you would say call the police but a drunk you would try to get in. He may have been trying to do the exact same thing and mistakenly was at the wrong room.

Here's a thought, if you are in town for your 1 year olds birthday how about not getting so drunk that you can't remember where your girl friend lives and kick down doors.

Why not do the adult thing, stay sober and be with your daughter.

Is it sad...sure

Is it sadder than any of the other murders that happen day in and day out...no

You seem like one of the fellows that hasn't received an efficient amount of information to be able to make an agreeable or arguable statement.

LINK

Here's a link from Jones' agent. Jones had never been to this specific apartment before, so him getting "so drunk" as what you just stated has nothing to do with it. He had never even been there.

There are so many more details that will become available. You don't know shite, neither do I. I'm just going off facts that are present.

Him being drunk and not responding to the occupants of the apartment and then kicking 2 doors in tells me what I need to know.

What a way to celebrate your daughters birthday. A little domestic abuse would have just been the icing on the cake.

I won't call him a thug because I don't know much of anything about him.

But I will say he did deserve to be shot. You can not break into someone's home and then break down the door to their bedroom. You deserve to be shot if you do.

Holy frick. People are missing a MAJOR part of the story here.

It came out that earlier in the day he and the GF had an argument, probably over some stupid shite. Then, BDJ goes to the bar and gets drunk. This is the part where you have LITERALLY no idea what was going through his mind. He could have been wanting to apologize. You DO NOT frickihng know. He knocks on the door for a period of time. Gets pissed and kicks the door. At this point, he hears the MALE voice and flips shite, as HE THINKS he's at his GF's aprtment, and that she is fricking another dude. He then breaks through the bedroom door and you know the rest.

quote:

Via NBA security report obtained by ESPN, Bryce Dejean-Jones was calling for his GF when apartment owner shot him through his bedroom door.

Dude probably wanted to talk it out with her. frick you bro.
