I could live with this. We need help at the 3, which he can play. And with the cap going up each year, the $2.6M or so we'd be paying him will seem like even less. A platoon of Q, Dante, and KJ at the 3 should be enough to get us by until Durant signs with us next offseason

If all we do is use the rest of the MLE (2.6 mill), the rockets will be idiots not to match 100% or try to get Cole in a S&T

He would thrive in a quick tempo type style of play.
And if we had jrue, QP, KJ, Davis, and Asik on the floor at the same time, it would be a pretty elite defensive unit. And i do believe he can guard most SF's.

They can't match it without releasing (stretching?) players.

HOU will likely keep him if they don't resign Josh Smith. It's a one or the other kind of deal. Obv HOU would rather keep Smith because when they drafted Dekker imo they were planning to part with McDaniels...Not really interested in Cole imo. Here's a pretty sweet 2 block sequence McDaniels had late in the season.

I'm having a mental debate with myself on whether I would trade QPon for KJ. QPon's deal is insanely cheap for what he provides, and he's under contract for 3 more seasons. If KJ agreed to a 3 or 4 year deal at a similar price to QPon's current deal ($1m or so more per year would be no biggie), it may make sense for both teams. It would give the Pels a higher upside in ~3 years when AD peaks, and give the Rockets a better opportunity to compete now with QPon's adequate defense and good 3pt shooting (I don't expect him to continue shooting 40%+, but ~37% or so is reasonable).

Well we don't have Cole yet but I wouldn't give Cole to them either. I do think Cole would be a perfect fit though. Trade idea: Cole sign and trade and Ryno for KJ, D-Montijunas, and Terrance jones. Basically Ryno for DM and jones, KJ for Cole.
