at least its the 2018 pick, right now our only long term guys are AD, Asik, and Ajinca. 2 of which are borderline useless. We swap one of those out with Okafor.
And give up a 2018 draft pick.

I don't think he will be some kind of savior. we're still inconsistent at guard/SF
No but based on the tweets it seems we are still gunning for playoffs. So either cash in and go for broke or ride out this season and actually contend for that pick to mean something. This is not a trade that needs to happen today if we weren't looking to improve to get that spot.

yup, which worries me. we could realistically net a 1st rounder or another quality guard for him...
Unless you have a guarantee from Jrue, creating a bunch of "if this, then this" scenarios for our future seems reckless.
It seems to me if this font office was really not in some capacity trying to save their jobs, this is the sort of trade that could just as easily happen this offseason. Allowing you even better opportunity to get a better draft position. Not to mention know much clearer what Jrue's intentions are.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers have been in talks on a deal centered around Jahlil Okafor for Jrue Holiday.
The 76ers traded Holiday to the Pelicans in 2013 for the draft rights to Nerlens Noel and a future first rounder.
Holiday will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.
Philadelphia is seeking a first round pick from the Pelicans as part of the deal. Alexis Ajinca is also part of the framework being discussed.
The 76ers have a glut of centers with the emergence of Joel Embiid this season.

I think they're just mashing together reports of the Ajinca/1st deal and reports of Philly wanting us to include Jrue.

They think this would give them a good team as early as next year and they would still be young enough to continue to grow in future
it's probably best case scenario under this regime and ownership

I saw it. This info is coming from the Philly side. We arent doing this deal.

The only way I'd include Jrue is if they take Alexis and Asik.

Go to realgm. It's the main headline.
well they are idiots then, or they arent' telling the whole story.

Realgm says the trade is Jrue and a first for Okafor not Alexis.
Not even Dell Demps is that stupid

Exactly.
Jrue-Buddy-Fournier-AD-DMo
with
Frazier-Moore-Hezonja-Hill-Okafor
off the bench (or replace Fournier and Hezonja with Butler and DC) is a playoff team with health that has upside. I don't like it either, but this is what you get when you have a franchise terrified of doing the long rebuild

Either of them and gave us a 1st back. Losing Ajinca and Asik money doesn't do anything but guarantee we'll spend frivolously again.

I'd quit supporting the team

Dmo better not be the starting center.

Who the hell wrote that stupid crap
Posted on 2/6/17 at 5:34 pm to TeddyPadillac
They are combining multiple rumors to get a bigger headline

I disagree. If you trade for Okafor, you want him coming off the bench IMO. Let him play the Kanter role where he is just a ball hog while your starters are resting. Just feed him every trip down. Plus, he is playing defense against bench players so he gets less exposed
I would not want that guy starting. His future is in the Kanter role IMO

If that is the long term goal with him, he isn't worth a high 1st. we are gonna frick this up...

I would argue that Kanter is worth far more than a mid-first. Especially if he was on a bargain contract. If you can get a big that can give you 25 mpg and score in bunches while your starters rest, that is far better than you are likely to get with a mid-first pick in any draft.
But they have to be smart enough to use him that way

So is this a bad thing? Anything is better than we have now, right?
