Yeah, and I'm guessing that the 5 year contract starts lower in exchange for more total guaranteed money and possibly a player option in the 5th year. Something like 4/$105 starting at $23.5 vs 5/$130 starting at $22.
Very scary amount to invest in Jrue.

How sure are we that Jrue is healthy?

It is a scary amount, and with the raises you are definitely in a gray area regarding his future dumpability. The 4/$105 would pay him $27.2 in year 3.

I'm not concerned about his health at all. Outside of the stress fracture he's had normal health issues. They admitted to not following doctors orders for the stress fracture which dragged his recovery out an entire year. Once they followed doctors orders his stress fracture seemed to recover as expected and he hasn't missed a game due to that injury in 2 years other than the planned minutes restrictions that were a part of the recovery plan.

4/100 is too much. He should not be averaging $25M/yr. I don't care what other people are making.
I'd do 5/100 with a team option for year 5.
I would start at 4/80, and would go up to 4/90 at the most.

We don't have to win a championship next year.
If he walks, play it safe and smart and go into next off-season with cap space, or use the space we have to make an uneven trade for a guy like Batum.
Jeff teague is just as good and will be cheaper. Jrue walks, do a sign and trade. Many of possibilities if we get a s&t.

It's not the end of the world if he walks.

Agree, but that is a big "if"

Doesn't the new cba change some of these s&t that used to happen so frequently?? I swear I remember reading that.

Either way, we're kind of forced to sign jrue. Not because of him, but because of cousins and ultimately Davis. If it makes them happy, you have to bite the bullet and sign him.

What kind of message/vision do you sell cousins for him to sign an extension in 2018? Without jrue, chances are we won't make the playoffs. Don't make the playoffs, gentry and possible Demps are gone.

New regime. New coach. New team. Not the best situation.

We don't need jrue to make the playoffs.

The Pels have never reached the playoffs with Jrue. It was an E.G. and Evans backcourt.

Jrue's game doesn't suit DMC and AD. Holiday is Westbrook lite. There is no ball movement with Holiday as the point. DoMo said it best when he stated "I want to play for a team that plays as a team." The team has too many stats players and not enough team players.

The team needs outside shooters. I would target Snell and trade for Demetrius Jackson. I believe both are doable.

He did not say the Pelicans were not like this. He was just saying what kind of team he wanted to play for. Do not twist words to make it something it was not.

I absolutely want him, and he fits in the trade exception. Snell has shot over 37% from 3 last 3 seasons. Took 4.4 3's a game last year and shot almost 41%, and is a long defender.
I don't think they'd give him away for nothing though, even though I don't think they really care that much about him.

Middleton/Snell for Moore/Frazier and 2018 1st.

I'm certain the pels know what they want to pay jrue
problem is that he is going to get a max offer and that's that
I sure hope they have a plan B

Plan b is the five year deal I'm sure.

I want Jrue back really bad. The chemistry he has developed with AD and what he can do with Cousins can lead us to 50 wins easy next year. Maybe more if we get a solid wing player as well

i hope you are right (at least i hope the pels dont max him), but lesser players have gotten the max. all it takes is one team with cap space

How much do y'all think Livingston is looking at. Think he would be a great get for this team if it's not too much money

Livingston would be a nightmare if they run high/low with Boogie and AD at the elbow. His height would create mismatch nightmares. Would definitely need to get shooters around him though a la Patty Mills, Tim Hardaway, etc. though
