The Vertical with a short write up on the fact that Jrue will meet with the Pels at the start of free agency. Has to be good news for the Pels.

That depends on how much you were willing to pay Holiday...

I say good news for the Pels, in the sense that they want him back, he knows their number, and he's meeting with them. You can argue whether or not bringing him back for 25+ mil is good, but if that's what they want and they are getting it, then I guess it's good news to them.

Surprised that his agent contacted Woj so late...

If we're paying Jrue then this is the team we have to go with can't add anything else significant.

I don't agree, they still have the 2018 first. If they are worried about the tax they can still get off of Ajinca, Qpon, and Asik (stretch). I'm still in favor of trading the 2018 1st and Ajinca for Bev. Pair him and Jrue in the back-court.

They can use picks + Moore. Or wait two years and, if the team looks like they're a piece away from competing and ownership will pay the tax for a few years, Asik's nonguaranteed contract + picks. Pretty difficult to get that 3rd superstar, but a Batum/Gallo caliber player is possible.

This DEFINITELY depends on your interpretation.

But yes, this means Jrue is re-signing. It's essentially a photoshoot.

Really curious what the number is if they already have this done. If not, this at least gives us the opportunity to pursue other free agents. Now if he visits other teams, we aren't left hanging in the wind.

Starting Holiday just slightly below AD at $23.7 million would give Holiday an average over 4 years of $26.54 million. If you round that up to it matches the $27 million figure MM just dropped while meeting the teams previous goal of not paying Holiday more than AD.

I'm hoping its a 3yr deal with a player option for year 3.

gives us the continuity we need to keep cousins/AD happy
doesn't lock us into a contract that will likely underperform for a LONG time (cough asik/ajinca)
gives us room to maneuver around
gives him a good chunk of change, but allows him to get a super max if he balls out

That's in year 1. In year 4 of a $106 million deal he's making $29.4

Does keeping Jrue make us a playoff team? I know we won't win shite, but I definitely want to see us in the playoffs.

I understand that, hopefully the cap will increase as well (Ad money, etc...).
