I definitely want him back. Solid depth is always a plus.

As @MikeAScotto mentioned keep an eye out for PHI and Norris Cole. 76ers with cap space and need of a PG. NOP has the right to March.

Larry Drew II is playing well in the Gentry system.

They are well below the salary floor right now and that's including $12M they are paying to Javale McGee.

In need of a PG, as in they are trying to win? Doubtful that they would waste cap space on Cole.

They could put one of their 1000 bigs at PG.

they have to spend it on somebody, and the do not currently employ a point guard. "wasting space" does not apply to the 76ers...they are not attempting to build a team currently, but they have to have somebody to bring up the ball

How about this three way S&T if the 76ers really are interested in Cole:

Philly: Cole
OKC: Toney Douglas
NOLA: DJ Augustin/Hollis Thompson

Does Waiters run the offense much? Because I can see OKC wanting to dump a few contracts to get out of the tax, I'm just not sure Augustin is one of them.

Dumping him saves them about 8 mil when it is all said and done. I don't know if they think he is worth that. Was one of the names reported that they could dump; why I put it in there. But obviously I can't see inside Presti's head

Make it Jones III and Thompson. Sign Curry or Drew II to a minimum.

I can see OKC doing that one, and Jones is essentially an expiring if you don't pick up his option. Lobos mentioned Payne, and OKC has a pretty great draft history, but they're in win now mode with KD, are they really going with a rookie backup? I think they'd want to drop Jones and Novak before Augustin just to save money.

This just overloads you on the wings IMO and puts an unproven as your backup PG. I know we are all in love with the summer league guys now, but they are still unproven NBA talents. Rather them as 5th guards, if we even sign one

Rumors before the draft were that OKC hasd too high a price tag on Jones and wanted premium picks for him. I am sure their demands have dropped some with the luxury tax bill coming. However not sure OKC would be willing to trade him to us (playoff competitor) just to save money.

Which is a cost of Cole getting paid more than we're comfortable with. I think keeping Cole should be the first option, but obviously not at any price. Your proposed S&T is preferable for the Pels than getting Jones back, but I don't think OKC does it. If there are better trade options or minimum backup PGs I'm not married to Drew/Curry, but if they offer Cole something we feel hampers our flexibility, like Aminu money, you have to find your next best option.

That wouldn't be the first time a team has overvalued their own player, but that's crazy. Career PER of 8.5, TS% 48.3, ORtg 98, DRtg 107, VORP -1.1. Looking at his game logs, other than an unprecedented and unrepeated outburst in the first 5 games of the season, 32 vs. LAC, 20 vs. Den and 16 vs. Brooklyn in the first 5 games, he hasn't done anything of note, let alone worthy of something like a 1st. He's a future 2nd at best.

Makes it easier to dump Anderson for help. More flexibility and more speed. Also keeps Evans in a full time backccourt role unless they want all 3 guards on the floor.

Oh, I have no faith either guy will be much of anything in the NBA. But I see Cole as a 5th guard that shouldn't, and hopefully won't, do much creating on offense. I'd rather more flexibility and shooting than worrying about the guy who is 3rd, maybe even 4th (Gordon), in line on the ball after Holiday and Evans. With smart rotations (and injury luck :knock:) one of those guys can be on the court all game, rendering that roster spot a secondary ball handler/shooter

Well looks like that's out. Celtics just acquired Perry Jones.
