Very original....it's not like The Beatles came up with this idea in 1968 or anything.

Yeah, and I think I heard a C chord in one of the new songs too. Don't those idiots know it's been done before? Posers.

My point is there is a real lack of originality these days.

fans are calling it the white album, not the band. it's another self titled record. like the blue album, the green album and the red album.

I'll give it another listen but I felt their last album was way better. It gave me hope that Weezer still had potential to create a solid album. This new album didn't give me that feeling.

I think the last album was better as well, but this is still better than anything since the first 3 albums imo. I had real hope after the last album as well that they may make something truly great again...this isn't it . At least it sounds like they actually give a shite to an extent now. I will ALWAYS give weezer a shot with any new album they put out as they have made 2 of my favorite albums of all time.

I've given it another listen and I'll admit that it's growing on me. It's a little too pop sometimes, but Weezer has always been a little pop...right? I really like "King of the World" and "Do You Wanna Get High?". They sound like they could have been b-sides from the last album.

except thank god for girls. that is one oddball song.

Yeah the lyrics are definitely simplistic /pop but I think that little riff from the chorus and the solo of this song take you back to the Pinkerton days more than anything else they've made since then. Or at least it does for me.

Yeah, it sounds too much like their pop singles of the past 10 years...it's ok in moderation but not something I'd give repeat listens to.

Really good album.

Could be great if not for the endless references to California, L.A., etc. shite really gets on my nerves for some reason.

ETA: Maladroit is an underrated album. Was all crap after that until this new album (although I never listed to their last album yet b/c I had given up on them after Ratitude & Hurley )

EWBAITE is definitely better, but this album is still better than anything else they've put out since Maladroit. It's so awesome seeing them round back into form. The second half of the album drags a bit, but the first half is legit vintage Weezer.
