Robert Johnson is the obvious #1 as he sold his soul to the devil at the crossroad in Clarksdale, MS.
In no order:
Buddy Guy
Duane Allman
Dickie Betts
Warren Haynes
Junior Kimbrough
Taj Mahal
Albert King
Derek Trucks
Luther Dickenson
RL Burnside
BB King
Howlin' Wolf
and even with technology and the internet there still some amazing talent playing the clubs of New Orleans, Memphis and the South that would blow our mind. Love stumbling into a dive bar and being blown away by a blues guitarist.

Go to Banks St. Bar And Grill on a Wednesday. That cat can play pretty damn well.
Great city for blues, which is overlooked with jazz and funk everywhere here

Can Robert Cray be added to the list?
Not the greatest but John Mayer when with the John Mayer Trio is strong.

Let me say that Skydog is my favorite musician of alltime, bar none.
But I never thought of him as a "blues guitarist". Of course he can play the blues, but always considered him a rock guitarist that can string the blues.
Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but when asked, who is the greatest Blues guitarist of all time, im thinking more like Buddy Guy, BB, Robert, Elmore. If we open this up to rock guitarist that can shred, I would have to submit Slowhand. Along with Duane of course.

I guess you're right, and I'm totally ashamed that I forgot Buddy Guy on my list...

Americans traditionally love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, big league ball players, the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That's why Americans have never lost, and will never lose a war... because the very thought of losing is hateful to Americans.

Hendrix, he fills all the requirements of a badass blues guitarist, and the dude was pretty fricking amazing.
