You have a great point there, definitely one of the most, if not the most influential. He got the ball rolling for sure!

There isn't a greatest one. There are many great ones.

Americans traditionally love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, big league ball players, the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That's why Americans have never lost, and will never lose a war... because the very thought of losing is hateful to Americans.

BB Broonzy. His fretting could stir a breeze to cool down the hottest summer Delta day.

That's a really subjective topic. The guy I think is the best, will often not be the best in the opinion of others.

If I want some smoother blues, someone like BB King. Live at the Regal is one of my favorite live albums.

If I want someone to rip it and "wow" me, SRV.

In no particular order these are my all-time favorites:

SRV
Hendrix
Buddy Guy
BB King
Albert King
Freddie King
Duane Allman
