George Hurley of the Minutemen
Janet Weiss of Sleater-Kinney
Bill Berry of REM
Does Brendan Canty of Fugazi count as underrated? Or is he widely regarded to be awesome?

Peter Edward Clarke, (born 21 August 1957, in St Helens, Lancashire), better known as Budgie, is an English drummer. His first recording was with The Slits in 1979. He then became the drummer of the influential band Siouxsie and the Banshees (1979–1996) and the drum and voice duo The Creatures (1981–2004). Budgie has also collaborated with other musicians including John Cale and Leonard Eto (formerly of the Kodo Drummers).

It'd actually be an insult to call him underrated, but Josh Freese is easily the most talented drummer of the last 25 years.. so pick any of the 80 bands he's played for, that's my answer lolz
There was a time when it seemed every CD I bought, Josh was the studio session drummer.

The Mississippi dude touring with the Dan (and has been with them since 2003)is not underrated by those in the know, but he damned sure isn´t a household name.

Considering his mind-boggling discography, Vinnie Colaiuta might have something to say about that...

Daru Jones.
Nobody probably know his name but he was the drummer in Jack White's band for the last few years. He plays with the drums tilted away from him and is standing or leaning forward most of the time so he brings some extra force.

Weezer - Pat Wilson. He is an absolute monster on what are mostly pop songs.
Atma Anur - session drummer who was famous for playing on Mike Varney's label. He's awesome on Jason Becker's first album.

Keith Carlock. You can bet that Steely Dan will have a good drummer in their lineup. Their music requires it and they've never had a bad drummer in their entire history. From Bernie Purdie to Steve Gadd to Rick Marotta to Jeff Porcaro, there isn't a bad one anywhere in the bunch.

Ray Luzier-KORN. No, really. KORN sucks but he is the real deal. Ask any professional drummer. He is way too good to be a member of KORN if you want my opinion.
